Join us for the adventure of a lifetime!

This tour is crafted for travelers eager to go beyond the usual paths and feel like true explorers. In recent years, ice cave tours have become so popular that the most accessible caves often feel crowded with hundreds of visitors daily. We guarantee a journey deep into the glacier, where the bluest and most photogenic caves remain hidden from the masses. All our photos are taken this year in the very cave we will visit!

The tour begins with a 45-minute 4x4 ride to a glacier. After a brief walk towards the glacier, the guide will introduce the gear and glacier hiking techniques. Be prepared to hike up to an hour on the ice to reach the ice cave. We will spend 45 minutes in the cave and, on the return trip, aim to visit other highlights of the glacier.

Please note: No prior glacier experience is required, but participants must be physically fit and capable of hiking 10 km, including uphill sections.

  • The total duration includes travel and hike time.
Location
Jökulsárlón
You will find a 4x4 minibus branded with Ice Walkers Tours logo at the main parking lot of the lagoon.

Glacier hike and True Blue Caves - Wonderful experience overall! We did this as a family of two adults and a teenager. This trip consists of about an hour drive in a super-jeep towards the glacier, then some prep time (putting on harnesses, helmets, crampons) and finally a few hours walking up the glacier towards ice caves (you don’t need to be a Tri-athlete but you need to be in decent physical shape!) We were 10 guests so it was really nice to be in a small group. Our guide Luke was wonderful making stops when we needed to catch a breath and very knowledgeable in giving us Glacier information. We felt very safe with him. When looking for an ice cave tour where you actually get to see the blue ones - this is the tour you want to do!!

Glacier hike to a remote cave - This is by far the best glacier hike tour you will get and stands out from all of the other tour companies as you hike further over the glacier and they take you to remote/secluded ice caves that no other tours will take you to and they are truly amazing. The caves we visited were crystal blue and were the only group in all the cabes we visited. Marcin was our tour guide and was highly knowledgeable and very easy to talk to. We had a group of 10 on our tour which was a good size and they supply all crampons and harnesses for the hike. I would highly recommend this tour.

Perfect Remote Blue - Superb hike across the glacier to a quiet remote cave. Excellent knowledgeable guide. You won’t see anyone else and the cave was a perfect blue on a sunny winters day. Highly recommended, would do it again.

Exciting time - I've already had the opportunity to see an ice cave, but this trip was much more interesting than the others. Good organization and care, the guide didn't rush us, he was helpful and talked a lot about the glacier. I would like to repeat it <3

Unique! An adventurous experience simply on another level - We've especially searched for a second ice cave experience, since we wanted to truly hike the glacier and *earn* us the blue ice cave views, instead of getting directly to the entrance by superjeep. The hike with Marcin truly delivered on and even exceeded our highest hopes. We've hiked for hours on pure ice, always guided safely but never rushed. It was also the very definition of a small group experience. Of course you should dress appropriately, be healthy and fit and bring ankle covering hiking shoes (!), but my partner and I are no experienced hikers nor runners and we were perfectly able to enjoy every step of the tour. PS: The fotos you see are truly unedited! We will never forget this adventure, thank you Marcin and the whole team.
