Worth it!! - Unique experience that was the highlight of our trip! There’s no way to get as close to the glacier if not with a tour so it’s definitely worth the money! We had a very knowledgeable guide called Ollie who made us all feel well looked after. Spent plenty of time on the ice and had all the gear needed. Definitely recommend.

Just do it: a glacier experience at its best! - Wow this was quite a special experience! Especially as our last glacier tour was in Canada where we more or less just saw the glacier and walked/slided around the bottom piece for a short while. I took this trip with my 17 year old son. This tour in Iceland started at the little Icelandic Mountain Guides house at Skaftafell. It was raining, but let me tell you, it does not matter ;-) Here we met our very cool, funny and infectiously positive true Icelandic Kari Timsson. We got some shoes for the hike which covered our ankles, some crampons and a cool gadget: the ice pick! Then we drove to the glacier by bus which was already a little adventure by itself. This was already interesting as we saw the end of the glacier and where it used to be, climate change visible! We climbed a very short hike up learning to trust the crampons. We passed through the little ice cave then we walked over the beautiful glacier and Kari explained us everything we wanted to know. How the glacier is pushing, why the neighboring glacier is dead, how to spot the difference, a bit on climate change naturally as it’s plainly visible. Kari was also extremely good in taking pictures and creating a lovely atmosphere in the group. Told us where we can and cannot walk. While we were not the only group, we were always by ourselves. We could also hear the glaciers pushing, sounded a bit like thunder. At the end Kari offered us an option to have a look in a glacier hole. Very professionally he prepared the gear (rope and special “abseiling gear”) and most of the group had a sneak peak in this deep hole. A very cool experience! And everyone felt very safe. Then we were almost alone in the glacier and the sun started going down. It was a great tour and Kari made it unique.

10/10 - I had an unforgettable experience on the Falljokull glacier hike with Icelandic Mountain Guides! The scenery was stunning, but what truly made the trip exceptional was our guide, Kári. His knowledge about the glacier and the area added so much depth to the experience, and his sense of humor kept everyone engaged and entertained throughout. I’ve been on many guided tours, but Kári stands out as the best guide I’ve ever had. If you’re considering a glacier hike in Iceland, I highly recommend booking with Icelandic Mountain Guides and hoping you get Kári as your guide!

Incredible experience - We participated in the tour as a couple. It was all first-class planned. First we were equipped with helmet, crampons and ice picks and then driven in the off-road bus directly in front of the glacier. In addition to the incredible landscape and history of the glacier, it was our guide Kári Timsson aka Ginger who made the tour a true experience. His easygoing and funny manner made time fly by. His confident demeanor has given much courage and confidence. We can really enjoy the tour - thank you!

Amazing Glacier Experience - We did the Blue Glacier Experience with Icelandic Mountain Guides in mid-October with our fantastic tour guide, Denis. Meeting and check in was only a few steps from the Skaftafell campground. Helmets, crampons, pick, and harness were included and fitted before leaving the base camp. It was a short but scenic 20 minute drive over to Falljökull, the glacier we’d be exploring. We were able to see all sorts of different features of the glacier and Denis stopped to explain and take pictures along the way. We found this tour to be well worth the money as an intro to glacier hiking in Iceland!
