Swakopmund Fat Bike Tours - On our Scenic Desert Tour you will experience the oldest desert in the world on a fat bike. On your arrival at our office you will be kitted with a fat bike to your size and helmet. After a short briefing we head off on our bikes from the center of town towards the Swakop riverbed, passing through our historic town. Once we reach the edge of town, we head down into the dry riverbed where the desert experience starts. Not long and we start climbing our first dune. From here we spend about an hour in the dunes where you will experience the thrill of riding along the famous Namib dunes including some optional adrenaline pumping downhill sections for the adventure types. The guide will also share some interesting facts about the desert and the vast life in the seemingly lifeless environment. It is truly a living desert.
The tour ends with a ride along the dry riverbed towards the coast and with the tide allows, some riding along the beach back to the office. A once in lifetime experience.

Excellent experience - Combo tour of the city and outing in the dunes by fat bike. A great guide, cultured, passionate and exciting: Costa humorously tells the story of the country, the city and its monuments. Beyond this visit, the trip to the dunes requires a certain physical condition and mastery of the bike. More difficult than I imagined, but Costa is a teacher and a patient. An experiment to do if you have 3 hours of time.

Enough sitting … time to ride some bikes! - We did the 3.5 hour tour with Hanjo across the dunes and down to the beach. Hanjo was an amazing tour guide with a wealth of knowledge in terms of ecology, geology, and the history of the area. We learned a lot more than we expected to. We are both avid cyclists and rode the regular fat bikes. Bikes were tuned a fitted for us. We were joined by a German couple and one of them was on an e-bike, which made the trip great for her. Communication on WhatsApp was speedy and responsive. Highly recommended activity as an active day in the middle of our Namibian tour.

A fun and informative experience - We did a combo electric fat bike tour with Hanjo, who showed us around Swakopmund and pointed out lots of historic buildings as well as explaining the history of the area. He was very passionate about passing on this information and clearly loves what he does. He then gave us expert tuition on how to cycle up and down the local sand dunes.

Brilliant - Amazing experience. Messaged on way to Swakopmund and immediate reply to say they could fit us in. The guide Hanjo was brilliant. He constantly checked in with us, explained the tips on how to ride on the dunes and gave opportunities for the more confident to try going down the steeper dunes. He also explained how the dunes are formed and general information about this area of Namibia. Really recommend. We had a group with 2 on e-bikes and 2 normal bikes and it worked well.

Great way to see and experience the sand dunes. - Throughly enjoyable couple of hours out on the dunes.
We had 3 regular bikes and 1 electric and all were easy to ride through the dunes. Our guide was great, both informative as a Swakopmund local about the dunes and wider area but also engaging and fun to be with.
The cycling was challenging in places and tested the nerves with some of the downhill and so the adrenaline was pumping at times.
Highly recommend as a family activity, cost easily circa £85 for four and definitely worth it.

This trip is THE BUSINESS! - This trip is THE BUSINESS. Went out for 4 hours with Mark, beautiful scenery, exhilarating and enormous fun. Some bits require a bit of fitness but if you aren't confident, there are e-bikes, and the bikes are all in good condition. This was a massive highlight of a trip around Namibia and would recommend highly.

Awesome - Must DO! - We took the “UP CLOSE" Living Desert Fat Bike Tour and spent a fantastic time in the dessert and dunes! We saw plenty of animals and our guide shared a rich variety of facts and information on animals and their habitat. A ‘Must DO’ if you are in Swakopmund !
