Swakopmund Fat Bike Tours - On our Scenic Desert Tour you will experience the oldest desert in the world on a fat bike. On your arrival at our office you will be kitted with a fat bike to your size and helmet. After a short briefing we head off on our bikes from the center of town towards the Swakop riverbed, passing through our historic town. Once we reach the edge of town, we head down into the dry riverbed where the desert experience starts. Not long and we start climbing our first dune. From here we spend about an hour in the dunes where you will experience the thrill of riding along the famous Namib dunes including some optional adrenaline pumping downhill sections for the adventure types. The guide will also share some interesting facts about the desert and the vast life in the seemingly lifeless environment. It is truly a living desert.
The tour ends with a ride along the dry riverbed towards the coast and with the tide allows, some riding along the beach back to the office. A once in lifetime experience.

- Min age: Depends on height and fitness level, must be able to ride a bike for 14km and approximately 2hrs continuously, including up several dunes. Our half size fat bike is perfect from 7 years old.
- Max age: Depends on fitness level. Must be able to cycle for 2hrs continuously, including up several dunes.

Great way to see and experience the sand dunes. - Throughly enjoyable couple of hours out on the dunes.
We had 3 regular bikes and 1 electric and all were easy to ride through the dunes. Our guide was great, both informative as a Swakopmund local about the dunes and wider area but also engaging and fun to be with.
The cycling was challenging in places and tested the nerves with some of the downhill and so the adrenaline was pumping at times.
Highly recommend as a family activity, cost easily circa £85 for four and definitely worth it.

This trip is THE BUSINESS! - This trip is THE BUSINESS. Went out for 4 hours with Mark, beautiful scenery, exhilarating and enormous fun. Some bits require a bit of fitness but if you aren't confident, there are e-bikes, and the bikes are all in good condition. This was a massive highlight of a trip around Namibia and would recommend highly.

Awesome - Must DO! - We took the “UP CLOSE" Living Desert Fat Bike Tour and spent a fantastic time in the dessert and dunes! We saw plenty of animals and our guide shared a rich variety of facts and information on animals and their habitat. A ‘Must DO’ if you are in Swakopmund !

Amazing experience! - We had an amazing time! It was so good to be active after a long time spent driving during this trip. Some of the downhills were scary, but we braved most of them except for one. The guide was very kind and understanding in spite of our inexperience on e-bikes. Pro tip: you’ll almost certainly need an e-bike. Even the e-bikes were difficult to manage uphill in the sand, and I truly can’t imagine how someone could do it on a regular bike.

Brilliant way to get active and see the dunes on a budget - Fantastic experience cycling amongst the amazing dunes! Our guide was excellent. Brilliant way to see the desert without breaking the budget on an expensive tour. 100% recommend.

Great experience - Excellent trip with Hanjo. We learnt about the desert and enjoyed riding the dunes. The only thing I wish we could do it for even longer! Fully recommend!

Out of this World - Hanyo was very accommodating and helpful with our special requests. His assistant was very knowledgeable and experienced as well. We truly enjoyed our time on the dunes and were amazed by some of the facts Hanyo mentioned about the dessert environment. Seeing camels and flamingoes were bonus of our 2 hour trip. I am casual biker and therefore I am glad I took electrical bike as some the dunes were steep. Thanks to the great guides making this trip fun for everyone!

Great morning time d'une tour on fat tire bikes - I used an eBike for the tour. Great tour: beautiful scenery, and the guide Hanjo was just amazing : patient, engaging, very knowledgeable. He made the tour fun and it was a good way to explore the dunes.
I highly recommend it!
