- Bondi Beach - Enjoy the vibrancy of Australia’s most famous beach as we stroll along the boardwalk.
Bondi locals working on their fitness at an outdoor gym will be the first sight, followed by the Bondi Pavilion in the middle of the beach.
The recently restored pavilion offers a wonderful open sense of space with breezy courtyards, a redesigned light-filled atrium, and extensive use of native coastal plants.
The many arches remain, and the continued use of terracotta tiles is consistent with the Mediterranean style of the pavilion.
As we head further south along the promenade, it’s hard not to be impressed by the street and contemporary art murals on the sea wall.
At the southern end of the beach, we ascend the stairs and meet at the top deck. It’s time to check out another local icon, the Bondi Icebergs.
The popular Icebergs pool is a 50-meter saltwater pool constructed in 1929 to help local lifesavers stay fit.
- Tamarama Beach - Our second beach stop is the small but beautiful Tamarama Beach. While there, we will walk along the coastal path, which also offers great views of Bronte Beach.
- Gap Park - Rugged cliffs and ocean views await us at this scenic spot near the entrance to Sydney Harbour.
- Paddington Reservoir Gardens - Charming and quaint terrace houses, boutique shops, an underground reservoir, and a Wollemi Pine are just some of the sights in Paddington.
- Pylon Lookout at Sydney Harbour Bridge - The Sydney Harbour Pylon is an excellent place to appreciate the magnificence of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. A ten-minute film outlines various aspects of its construction and history.
There is also a museum with exhibits that help explain the engineering challenges faced in constructing the bridge, along with interesting artifacts from the collection of the bridge’s chief engineer, John Bradfield.
No visit would be complete without stopping by the 360-degree viewing platform that offers wonderful views of the bridge and Sydney Harbour.
- Barangaroo Reserve - Barangaroo Reserve is a hill that provides a large lawn area for Sydney residents to relax. The Stargazer Lawn is surrounded by terraced, lush native gardens.
Underneath the hill is a large space known as the Cutaway, which provides an area for events and cultural activities.
The walkway around the hill offers expansive views of Sydney Harbour and is a pleasant addition to the visit.
While at Barangaroo Reserve, we will discuss the history of the area and the impressive construction processes involved in creating this wonderful reserve.
