remarkable performance - a wonderful experience .the words to the songs were very helpful no problem with the tickets just about the right length of performance use the bathrooms of the restaurant in the intermission on the same floor and no line to deal with if you need a cab after the performance you need to pre book it

You MUST see a show at the opera house! - What an experience getting to see an Opera at the Iconic Sydney Opera House!! I will cherish that memory forever. The show itself was lacking and felt under-produced.

The "Magical" Flute opera for beginners. - The show was our first to an opera, and were highly delighted with venue and show quality. The stars were top rate, international artists themselves, and together they made the event memorable. The request to provide pictures - No photos on the auditorium

Budget performance! - We were disappointed that this was such a low budget production in one of the greatest opera houses in the world! The orchestra was minimal. There was no set or scenery, just a tacky gold tinsel curtain that was pulled back-and-forth across the stage. The singers were OK but not outstanding. The cast and chorus were dressed in street clothes, and barefoot (presumably so they didn’t have to buy shoes.) It was sung in English which was disappointing. I didn’t care for the way Papageno changed the words & character to portray an Australian beach bum. Frankly, our college production was superior this. We expected a much higher standard, especially after spending $350 per seat in the loge section!

Disappointed - Magic flute being one of my favourite operas, and seeing so many wonderful productions, this one was like an high school performance. The set was used from opera I saw week before, with some streamers, it was terrible. While performance, except for a couple, didn’t seem to have their heart in it. Generally a real disappointment.

Mozart Rolls Over due to Crappy Set/Stage/Costumes - I was disappointed by the set, the costumes and the lighting...it was the Sydney Opera House but it all looked like a 3rd grader's school play... Such tacky setting, staging and costumes looked like most of the people walked in from outside wearing whatever... Nothing interesting at all.. An old sheet was used as a backdrop or stage separation...ugly! and the dragon was ridiculous! Go and see the Lion King and then you will know how to make light puppets look good... OMG. The lighting was TERRIBLE - i could not believe I was in the Opera House!! What was great was: The musicians and the singers... The rest was KAKA!! You can do better Australia! why? This show doesn't measure up to professional standards... the translation to English was also pretty boring!! Yawn... The singers were awesome... the musicians were awesome but they landed in a pile of crap with the unfortunate set design (if you can call it that), the crummy costumes and lighting... The kids involved were very good... but who wants to be put in such a setting! It cost us much more than $109Aus listed and it was really bad visually... Go see something else at the Opera House... So sad for Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart... shameful stage and setting and costumes just were crap.

What is the best way to butcher a piece of art - I was so looking forward to this opera and they just butchered the piece of art. The opera was a big joke litteraly. We were laughing most of the time wondering what we were looking at. The singers and orchestra were qualitative yes but the mise en scène was horrible to the point where Mozart must have turned around in his tomb. First, why was this performed in English and worse, bogen Australian for some characters with a guy walking around with an esky, saying mate, darl, and discovering food like beef Wellington. Décor was sad, no real costumes except the cruela devil costume of the Queen and the hippie jesus zarastros. All other looked like they were just coming from work down the road to sing at the opera. It looked like a low budget opera from a small town (except for the quality of the orchestra and singers). I have seen over 10 operas at the opera house and had been waiting for years to see that one being performed at the opera house which is why I got some of the most expensive tickets but this was litteraly a waste of my time and money. Worst opera I have ever seen.
