The Three Sisters - There’s a magical, yet captivating story behind popular The Three Sisters rock formation in Katoomba, involving a folklore of three sisters that had fallen in love with three brothers but were forbidden to marry. The Three Sisters is a scenic attraction of three distinct cliffs that was formed by land erosion over 200 million years ago during the Triassic period. This site was eroded over time by wind, rain and rivers, causing the cliffs surrounding the Jamison Valley to be slowly broken up, forming the three cliffs, or Three Sisters.
