Additional Information

This is Sydney’s only true 3-in-1 whale watching cruise. It includes a city sights cruise with live commentary on Sydney’s history, both past and present, a BBQ lunch, and a whale watching experience on the ultimate Sydney Harbour cruise. Relax as you take in the sights of Sydney from the water, cruising around Sydney Harbour while enjoying a BBQ buffet lunch or breakfast (available on Saturdays and Sundays only) served on board. Then, venture into the open sea for whale watching, passing through the Sydney Harbour Heads. Your crew will locate the whales and provide informative commentary on their activities. These majestic sea giants were once nearly hunted to extinction, with the humpback population believed to have been as low as 200 whales at one point in history. Conservation efforts have helped increase their numbers to a safe level, preventing extinction. This whale-watching cruise has limited capacity, ensuring plenty of room inside and out for comfortable viewing on your spacious sightseeing vessel.

Whether you can see whales depends on luck - It's about the great outdoors, so whether you can see the whales properly depends on luck. This time I could only see the squirt from a distance. Still, I felt very sincere when my tour Pro offered to come back within three years. By the way, getting drunk is a must! The ship was a hell of a picture of squawking, perhaps because we traveled so fast in the high waves to chase whales. lol

Whales so close my wife had tears of joy! - This trip would have easily earned 5 stars but the lunch was horrible. The crew was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They focused on safety, comfort, and cleanliness. The guide was absolutely fabulous! She was informative and only talked when necessary or to point out a whale or sight. The most amazing part was seeing the whales. They were in a very playful mood breaching, slapping the water with their fins, and showing off for well over an hour. They came so close to the boat I could almost feel the mist from their blowholes. The captain was cautious to shut the motors down when they approached and respecting them by keeping a safe distance when necessary. I highly recommend this cruise but don't come for the lunch. Come for the amazing experience and crew. Worth every penny even if you don't touch the food.

Great staff but highly weather dependant - The staff were great and tried their best show us the whales. But like every other whale watching tour, this is purely luck. We saw three whales, but most were not curious enough to venture closer or even slowdown. What makes this tour worse than other operators is this. Food and rough seas don't mix and half the boat was not happy. The vessel was old and didn't have enough vantage points. Four hours on a slow and old vessel doesn't make for a good trip.

Expedition for the brave in bad weather - I'm a whale enthousiast, so this was on my list when I visited Sydney. The day we booked, we were not so fortunate, it was horrible weather. The timing communication could be better, the activity "starts" at 8, they tell you to be 30-15mins in advance. We saw nobody there till 8h05, so the people who were there at 7h30 were wondering if it was cancelled, if you call the booking number, you get the voicemail "we open at 9h". They do warn you to take seasick pills, with good cause, in bad weather this experience is not for the weak, the waves get high and the water + wind cold. People start throwing up and lots get seasick. We were lucky to see lots of whales, even when we were cold outside, it was better then the sickness smell inside the boat. It was a special experience, but I hope the organization can find some way to not go out in bad weather, because sea sickness is much worse if you cant go outside. Also didn't like the big Asian group came at the last moment, claimed all the good spots and the guide stayed upstairs with the small group instead of coming down to talk to the most of the people.

Need interpreters or bouncers. - We had a bad weather day but the overall trip was full of great views and a limited amount of whales. Trip was generally ruined by poorly behaving tourists rushing in front of everyone, or edging others away to take selfies. Not enough crew and none that spoke Asian language to even attempt to keep it organized. A younger me would have engaged in physical confrontation; that I saw others nearly engage in.

Some Whales But Maybe Not Worth It - Although we did see the backs of three whales, we never saw them jump up out of the water as pictured. And, although I have been able to be on a 14 day cruise and other boat rides without a problem with my wristband for motion sickness, I did get sick on this boat ride along with a number of other projects.

We were there to this... - We were there to this cruise last Saturday 13/7. We didn’t see any whales, and most of the people got sick in the boat, it was a horrible experience.

Prepare Or You Will Lose Your Lunch - The crew members were good, especially the lady on the mic. You could hear her well, she spoke clearly, and she was very knowledgeable about whales. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any. We weren’t properly prepared for this experience. As soon as we cleared the relatively calm waters of the bay, the trouble started. Waves six to eight feet high began to toss the boat about so violently you could not stand. At first the adults and the children cried out with glee as if they were experiencing a roller coaster ride, but when the crew started passing out the white bags, I knew we were in trouble. The yells of excitement started subsiding. It got quiet. A young child started crying. The delicious meal they served us as we were leaving the harbor didn’t stay with us very long. One girl across from me opened her bad and lost her lunch. Then another, then another, then me, then my wife. One by one most of the 100 passengers either got sick or put their heads down on the table trying to suppress the motion sickness. It took about an hour to get out of the harbor. Then the vomiting started and the boat searched vainly for whales for another two long tortuous hours, while the hapless passengers held on to something with one hand to keep from falling and held on to the barf bag with the other. I went through four bags! As they re-entered the bay and calmer waters, a look atoned the boat showed pure misery on most faces. A few passengers were enjoying themselves, apparently less susceptible to motion sickness. Most people were quiet the final 30 minutes or so to get back to the dock. Once out of the boat, my wife’s and my ordeal were not over. A common reaction of the body to motion sickness is to draw blood to the core, and you get very cold. Hypothermia set in and we were freezing even though the temperature was only 56 degrees Fahrenheit. We rushed to our hotel shaking violently from being so cold, turned up the temperature of the thermostat as high as it would go, put extra blankets on the bed and tried to warm up under the covers as much as possible. It took a couple of hours for us to return to normal. It was a terrible ordeal. Should you decide to go on this tour, check the winds offshore, put one of those motion sickness patches behind your ear well in advance, and, I would recommend you not eat the free meal. You might see it again later even with the patch. They offered us a free second opportunity to go on another excursion, since we didn’t see any whales, but there is no way I would ever subject myself to that again under those circumstances. I don’t fault the cruise company, other than to suggest they should have given more warning of what to expect. If you decide to do it, you’re a brave soul!
