The excellent guides will explain how life was like in the 1700s and the many battles that took place here between the French and the English. The Fortress also provides great ocean views and the included trip to the lighthouse will showcase the rugged coastal scenery as you look out to the Atlantic Ocean. The Mira River is and large river that makes its way through cottage country and offers a very tranquil and peaceful scenic viewpoint as you make your way back towards Sydney.

A wonderful tour enriched our cruise excursion - I opted for a private tour for five of us I am so glad we did. Our cruise ship docked at Sydney offered shore excursions but I wanted something more intimate. There was a bit of confusion when we arrived but the Taxi company quickly arranged a car and tour guide/driver to pick us up. (They had several vehicles standing by.) Ari our guide took us to Louisbourg. It was almost the end of the season so the Fortress was opened partially. We finished at the Fortress earlier than expected. We wanted to continue the tour, Ari our guide suggested another route including lunch and Alexander G Bell museum.
We had the best chowder ever at The Freight Shed. It was at a scenic Beddeck fishing village. Ari was informative. His love for the island was evident. He took great care of us. 7 hours just flew by, we had so much fun and good grub. It richly enhanced our cruise experience. Highly recommend getting a private tour with the company and driver.

Great experience with - Views were amazing, very informative tour of the local area and the fortress. Simon was great to deal with. Would highly recommend and would like to take a longer tour around the island with this company in the future

Great tour and a great guide - The drive to and from the fort was beautiful and our tour guide Jack was very knowledgeable about the area and very much a great historian. It wouldn't have been the same without Jack. He made sure we had everything we need plus some. Let me be clear, Jack from the taxi (City Taxi I believe) made this whole experience.
The only thing I would like improved would be the tickets that we received for the tour did not include the time of the tour, duration or pick up location and that would have definitely been helpful.

Louisbourg Fort and Lighthouse - We really appreciate Viator working with the provider to hook us up with Ami for this tour. We had a great time at Fort Louisbourg and the lighthouse. Ami was very friendly and full of historical and local knowledge. It was a great experience for us.

Fun trip to Fortress Louisbourg & Mira - Highly recommend both this site & company. Drive out to Fortress was lovely, stopping for sea & lighthouse views along the way. Fortress Louisbourg was fascinating with lots of costumed, in character reenactors to interact with. Our driver was prompt and friendly, sharing stories about living in Sydney.

Private tour with flexibility - We had a private taxi. Met at port earlier than expected and given a tour of Sydney as well as being taken to the fort. Great not to be herded in a coach. We could have had as long as we wanted. Fort is spectacular and looks lovely in good weather. Afterwards a tour of Sydney again taking us to areas don’t normally see. Great guide. Didn’t go to mira but drive over river but that was our choice

Well done tour of Fortress - This was a quick way to tour the area and see the Louisbourg fortress and lighthouse. Driver was safe, very flexible and patience! The waves crashing at the lighthouse were very impressive! The fort was wonderful and a must see if you're in the area!

This is a fascinating... - This is a fascinating place to visit. Multiple buildings with painstaking excavation records. So much history!
Our tour was way too short and did not allow enough time to scratch the surface of all that is here.

Sydney Tour to Fort Louisbourg and Mira - Regrettably we did have a poor experience. The drivers were waiting right outside the cruise ship walkway and found us right away, which was a great start! However, from that point forward, the trip did not go well. The trip scheduled to start at 8:30 for four in a tax did not start until 9:00 because they were searching for another couple to add onto our trip. We had a very friendly driver but six of us were uncomfortably put into the car. which made the whole trip difficult from the start. The second important reason for the low rating is that this is not a tour but simply a taxi service. You are driven to the destination and the left to tour it on your own! The fort is beautiful and worth seeing and we were given sufficient time to see it, but Mira National Park was a disappointment because after seeing the Lighthouse, our driver only stopped by the Mira River Bridge but nowhere else in the beautiful park. The trip was sold to us as going from 8:30 to 2:00, but the trip started at 9:00 am and ended by 1:00pm. Despite having a decent driver who felt bad for our situation, it did not change the experience. It was our first booking with Viator and we were sincerely disappointed.

I could have just taken a taxi! - Very disappointing. The drive basically picked us up drove us to the site and said he would pick us up in 1 hour. He did pay for the tickets, but it would have been nice to have an actual tour with some information. I could have hired a cab to take me there and bought my own ticket.
