Cavagrande - the 4 hour hike - Great experience hiking around Cavagrande. We started at the western entry point. At the end of a very bad gravel road you will find a private parking between some olive threes. It costs 4 € (cash only) a day to park there. from there you continue 50 m down the gravel road. There you will find a gate that looks very private - just pass it and go through the "messy" farm with goat and a couple of barking dogs (they are friendly - no worries) - approx 100 m west of the farm you will find the official entrance to Cavagrande. You have to pay 2€ pr person (only creditcards!) they will give you a map. The route is straight forward. Unfortunately the long (4 hour route) to the east entrance (where there is a small cafe) is a one way route ... But we found the way back on the top - just follow the fence - it continues all the way back to the parking. Enjoy the green nature, the lizards, the mint and the sound of the river. Remenber bathing clothes ! there is a lovely pond on your way !

The hidden beauty of Sicily. - Beautiful hike, definitely worth trying again. Once you park your car, you pay the entrance fee for the Sicily region, little stuff. You begin to descend, Recommendation to wear at least sneakers, not flip-flops or sandals .. better those trekking, and descend into the valley for 250/300 while vertical for about 40 minutes.
the trail is well equipped and secured open from 01 August 2024. Then after a bit of wilderness you find yourself one after another of the ponds surrounded by nature with exciting green water and really nice cool. We went down in mid-August, with scorching heat we cooled off well for several hours. Recommendation to bring water to drink at will and cover yourself, which the sun beats. To climb it takes those who walk well a 40 minutes, we with the 12-year-old took an hour. With a little effort, but believe me it is really worth it, to see a piece of natural beauty.

Cavagrande hike review - Fabulous tour with Frederico who was very knowledgeable around the Cavagrande gorge. Hardly a soul in sight and capped off with a wonderful swim in the rock pools

Grand Canyon of Sicily - The views were amazing! Frederico was very informative about plants and other natural features, which was fun! The water in the pools was cold but I tried to swim anyway. I was glad I had worn my swimsuit under my hiking clothes as there is not really anywhere to change.

Highlight in Sicily - A clear 5/5 stars. The nature was breathtaking, swimming in the natural pools was very refreshing, our guide Federico gave us a lot of interesting information about the area (plants, animals, history), was very friendly, considerate and authentic, without trying to force us to be entertained. He let us enjoy the impressive nature and made sure that the hike was unforgettable.

I highly recommend this activity - Magnificent place, very pleasant for swimming, very beautiful landscapes. It takes an hour to descend from the parking lot and a little more for the climb.

Cavagrande hike well worth the effort. - Need to be semi fit to complete the trail - going up the last bit back to the car was steep and hot but it’s doable and well worth the effort. Our guide was fantastic and gave us heaps of information about the local flora and fauna. You will need at least 1.5 l of water plus a snack. Do take your swimmers as the water hole is beyond beautiful and very refreshing after the hike down. The drive to the gorge was around 50minutes and it was great to see some if the country side. Would recommend without hesitation.

Beautiful day out - Highly recommend this tour. The gorge is beautiful and we were able to swim in the river pools - so refreshing and relaxing. The rocks are quite slippy though! The walk is fairly steep, but as it not very long I would not say it is difficult. Also there's no pressure to go fast.
Federico is a knowledgeable and attentive guide. We went for coffee and cake afterwards. All in all a good excursion.
