Highlights
  • Mercato Di Siracusa - Since ancient Greek and Roman times, the island of Ortigia has been a significant commercial and cultural hub. The market, strategically located near the port, served as a gathering place for merchants from across the Mediterranean. Here, not only were food items like fish, fruits, vegetables, and spices traded, but also diverse ideas and cultures.
  • Temple of Apollo (Tempio di Apollo) - Constructed at the start of the 6th century BC, the Temple of Apollo is the oldest Doric temple in Sicily.
  • Fountain of Diana - Situated in the heart of Ortigia, at the center of Piazza Archimede, stands the magnificent Fountain of Diana, created between 1906 and 1907 by the renowned Palermo sculptor Giulio Moschetti.
  • Syracuse Cathedral - The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, commonly known as the Cathedral of Syracuse, is built on the foundations of an ancient Doric temple dedicated to the goddess Athena, constructed by the Greek-Siceliots in the 5th century BC.
  • Arethusa Spring - This freshwater spring, located close to the sea, has inspired poets and writers since ancient times. Also known as “a funtana re papiri” or “the fountain of papyrus,” the Fonte Aretusa is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating spots in Ortigia.
  • Parco Archeologico della Neapolis - The Archaeological Park of Neapolis, situated in the north-western part of Syracuse, spans approximately 240,000 square meters and is one of the largest archaeological sites in the Mediterranean.
  • Teatro Greco - The Greek Theatre of Syracuse, one of the world’s most significant, has been renowned for its grandeur since ancient times. Alongside the theatre of Athens, it was the largest theatre of ancient Greece.
  • Ear of Dionysius (Orecchio di Dionisio) - The Ear of Dionysius is the most famous cave in the Latomia del Paradiso, carved by stone quarrymen following the limestone veins.
  • Santuario Madonna delle Lacrime - The Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Lacrime in Syracuse was constructed following a miracle in 1953, when an image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, located in the Iannuso family’s home, began to weep.

Excellent guide for Ortigia and Siracusa! Worth the money. - Really nice product. The guide includes a big part of Ortigia (most beautiful area of the city) and extra part for Siracusa. It took me one day and a half to explore everything but it was really worth it! It’s not my first walking cap digital guide but this is one of their most complete one!
