Late Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto - Located 32 kilometers southwest of Siracusa at the base of the Iblean Mountain, Noto lends its name to the surrounding Val di Noto area. Renowned for its exquisite early 18th-century buildings, Noto is considered a prime example of Sicilian Baroque architecture. The town boasts numerous religious structures, palaces, churches, and more. The old blends seamlessly with the new, and a view from a hilltop building reveals a mix of historic and modern architecture. The Cathedral, which began construction in the early 18th century, was completed in 1776.
Centro Storico di Ragusa Ibla - Ragusa is one of Sicily’s most picturesque towns. The view from the upper town over Ragusa Ibla, perched on its own hilltop, is truly breathtaking. As one of the UNESCO-listed Baroque towns in southeastern Sicily, Ragusa is also a key filming location for the Sicilian detective drama Il Commissario Montalbano (Inspector Montalbano), which has significantly boosted the area’s popularity. With a new airport set to open in Comiso, just ten miles away, this tourist destination is on the rise.
