We will meet at 8.30 at the Ortigia market, near the port, where the cruise ships dock. The activity begins with a pleasant walk on the street of the market to discover local food.The experience includes: food tasting, description of fresh and preserved food, smart recipes, shopping food for the lesson and finally my family cookbook as a gift, so at your home you can have fun cooking many recipes for family and friends. Ortigia market tour lasts an hour. We’ll go to my house later in the ARENELLA seaside area, (15 minutes drive from Siracusa) for the cooking lesson and lunch, You will eat the food you cooked.We will make a delicious, traditional meal (3 courses).The menu can be customized and transport is included if useful. During the lesson you will be able to cook yourself, I will explain in an engaging, clear and simple way how to prepare a delicious menu. If during your vacation you have time for a food experience, this will be pleasant and amazing. Cruise passengers will be taken back to the cruise ship. Join me, Teresa Zimmitti, for a unique culinary experience in Syracuse, Sicily. Explore the Ortigia market, participate in a cooking class, and enjoy a tasting session in a beautiful Sicilian villa.
We’ll start our journey in Ortigia. Then, we drive for 20 minutes to the Arenella area (transportation provided at €30 per person) where our cooking class is scheduled to take place.
At 9.30/10.00, we’ll meet at the church of San Paolo on Via dell’Apollonion, ORTIGIA. Starting our stuff with a delightful stroll through the Ortigia marketplace. Here, I’ll introduce you to the local produce necessary for creating the finest Sicilian dishes, explaining how to choose and use them. This also includes tasting local food delicacies. After an hour-long market tour, we’ll head to my home for the cooking session.
You’ll be privileged to prepare a sumptuous, traditional 3-course meal that we can relish in the comfort of my garden. Please take note that we do not offer vegan or gluten-free menu options.
