Interesting, Enjoyable, Unforgettable Day with an Excellent Guide - Ildikó Varga of Budapest Bug expertly organised our private day trip to the Danube Bend with our kind, knowledgable guide, Vince (Vincusha) and experienced chauffeur, Tamas. From our Budapest Hotel we were driven to Nagymaros, from where our car boarded a ferry headed for Visegrád- famous for its hilltop medieval castle with glorious views of the Danube Bend. After a visit of Hungary's most prominent and sacred Esztergom Cathedral, we were shown views of the Danube from the back of its Basilica. Later we visited Visegrád's citadel where we were treated to an entertaining show of jousting and archery, which was very enjoyable for the children, as they could try their hand at using the ancient weaponry after the show. After enjoying views of the Danube from the castle, we headed for lunch at a medieval themed restaurant. Post lunch we were taken by Vince to certain hilly vantage points above the Danube from where we could take nice photos and have glorious views of the river. Our tour ended at the beautiful, picturesque town of Szentendre, where we tasted Lavender ice cream for the first time. Szentendre is famous for it's handicrafts, small museums (visit Micro Wonder Museum!), art galleries, streets artists, woodcrafts (buy Hungary's unique handcrafted brightly coloured wooden boxes- they can be engraved), etc. The town looks like it was created from a story book. It's church offers good views over the town. There is also a small Jewish quarter with quaint houses- one we saw looks like a Hobbit's house!. This tour offers a lot, however we felt that had we avoided lunch at the very busy and very touristy restaurant with extremely slow service (we were there for almost 2 hours!), we would have had time to tour at a more relaxed pace. All in all we had a wonderful day with Vince who surprised us all with his fluency of Hindi (the national language of India) and his extensive knowledge and love for our country. ~Felicia Variava Albert, Managing Director, Blaze Tours & Travels Pvt. I highly recommend a full-day tour... -
I highly recommend a full-day tour with the local tour guide George Molnar. For my first full day in Budapest, George provided a top-notch in-depth introduction to Budapest. A few days later, we explored the ancient capital. I was amazed at the beauty of Hungary: the history, church, and countryside.

You'll get to see the countryside - Our trip was with a local woman who gave off the vibe of being a Hungarian grandma. It was good - not great, but good. The picture Viator uses is misleading. The "fight" is only a couple of times a year, so you'd have to research that independently & then make sure you book it correctly. As it was, we just drove past that area with just a passing comment. If you want a trip that lets you see the countryside of Hungary, without straying too far, then this is it. Walking around the old town, as well as seeing the beautiful view from near the church was the highlight. However, we're 2 adults & 3 fully grown teenagers, smooshed into a taxi with our guide & driver - it was very cozy for a full day.
