• Veroce - As the final stop of the day, enjoy coffee or ice cream in Verőce, a charming village on the banks of the Danube River, where you can admire an intriguing riverside system of retaining walls, initially designed by the renowned Hungarian architect Miklós Ybl. It’s a unique sight in the Hungarian part of the Danube, and again, something very few tour operators include, despite its obvious charm.
• Diadalív - Discover Hungary’s only triumphal arch, the Vác Arch of Triumph, affectionately known as the “Stone Gate” by locals. This remarkable monument, built in 1764 to honor Empress Maria Theresa, was designed in elegant Copf style by Viennese architect Isidore Canevale. Commissioned by Bishop Antal Migazzi for the Empress’s grand reception, the arch has a fascinating story: legend has it that, constructed in just two weeks, the Empress hesitated to drive her carriage beneath it. Upon her departure weeks later, reassured by its sturdy presence, she confidently passed through. Today, this beautifully restored free-standing arch, adorned with striking illumination, offers a majestic sight for visitors to admire.
