Highlights
  • Tanah Lot Temple - Tanah Lot Temple translates to “Land [in the] Sea” in Balinese. Situated in Tabanan, approximately 20 kilometers (12 miles) from Denpasar, the temple is perched on a large offshore rock that has been sculpted by the ocean tide over the years. The temple, a significant part of Balinese mythology, was constructed centuries ago and is one of seven sea temples along the Balinese coast. Each temple is positioned within sight of the next, forming a chain along the southwestern coast. Influenced heavily by Hinduism, the temple is believed to be the work of the revered 15th-century Hindu priest Danghyang Nirartha and plays a crucial role in Balinese spiritualism and mythology. Visiting in the afternoon is ideal for sunset views, kite flying, and watching the Kecak fire dance at 6:15 PM for a ticket price of 100k per person (personal expenses). You can also see the holy snake and holy water.

  • Jatiluwih Green Land - The stunning panorama of rice terraces with Mount Batukaru as a backdrop is considered one of the most captivating natural sceneries. Jatiluwih offers a magnificent view of contoured rice terraces irrigated by an impressive communal water system developed by Balinese farmers. The scenic drive through quaint villages and lush slopes of Tabanan’s central coastal regency enhances the experience. Jatiluwih, the widest rice terrace in Bali, is nominated for UNESCO World Heritage status. Here, you can observe Balinese farmers manually planting rice, from land preparation to planting. You can walk or cycle around the vast green fields and purchase organic rice varieties such as white, red, black, and yellow rice.

  • Ulun Danu Bratan Temple - Located in the Bedugul plateau, Ulun Danu Bratan Temple is dedicated to Dewi Danu, the goddess of lakes formed by volcanic eruptions 3000 years ago. The temple, situated on a plateau above the lake, translates to ‘the source temple of Lake Beratan’ and is surrounded by the lake’s pure waters, giving it a surreal appearance. Visitors can take photos by the lake with the temple and surfers in the background. A traditional market nearby sells typical Balinese souvenirs. You can also rent a speedboat for fishing or exploring the lake.

  • Buyan Lake - Located in Wanagiri Gobleg Village, this site offers views of the twin lakes, Buyan and Tamblingan. The cliffside area features various photo props and scenic views of Lake Banyumala, perfect for capturing memorable photos.

  • Banyumala Twin Waterfalls - This hidden gem features a beautiful, clear waterfall with a calm lagoon, ideal for swimming. The journey to the waterfall involves descending approximately 200 steps, but the effort is rewarded with stunning rural scenery and a refreshing swim. The site boasts two waterfalls, with another one to the south for those who enjoy nature adventures. Visitors receive free mineral water, coffee, or tea, making it a perfect spot for relaxation.
