Book at own risk - As an experienced rider who has owned horses since a child and done many trail rides in my lifetime - this tour was incredibly upsetting. The horses and stable looked in good condition upon first glance and the staff were very welcoming. However, despite clearly communicating our levels of experience my friends and i were not paired with appropriate horses. The two most experienced of us had to be led the entire ride and when we initially asked why this was the handlers said because the horses were unsafe on their own. We didn’t feel the horses were behaving badly at all and that we could easily control them so this was a bit confusing. We thought oh well we don’t know the horses so better to be safe then sorry and we expected to just have a nice relaxed ride. But when we reached the beach this all changed. With absolute no warning the guide sent us into a flat out gallop. He had them on a very short lead galloping next to us which was extremely unsafe and uncomfortable. The guides horse was banging into my leg and throwing us off balance. When asked to slow down because i lost my stirrups the guide wouldn’t listen. He also ignored me when i said i’d like to just trot and sent us into a gallop again multiple times with zero communication. I felt confident i wouldn’t fall due to my riding level but if the horse had tripped or changed direction suddenly i could have easily been in severe trouble. Especially since the beach was very rocky and the sand soft. My friend on the so said beginner horse was bucked off too. After looking more closely it was clear the horse had a injured leg and was in no shape to be ridden. The guide kicked and hit the horse when it wouldn’t walk back to the stable. The rest of our friends had an ok experience with their horses and handlers, but overall the tour was very disorganised and chaotic. No one knew what was happening once we reached the beach with everyone going in seperate directions. We did not ask for a refund, but I hope other travellers take our review into consideration before booking.
