Your journey will take you through fields of wheat and orchards of walnut, apple, and cherry trees before arriving in the village of Tamaterte.
Amgdoul - After passing through the village, a path leads up through pine and juniper woods to the Tizi, offering a stunning view of the Imlil and Imnan Valley. From here, you can spot Berber villages nestled into the slopes and Jbel Oukaîmeden (‘Ouka’ to the locals), which stands at 3268m.
The next hour or so will be spent traveling to the villages of Ouaneskra and then up to Amghedoul at 2130m, where you can enjoy a picnic on the plateau.
Tachdirt - In the afternoon, you will hike through the valley along mule trails until you reach Tachdirt, the oldest Berber village in the Toubkal Massif, situated at 2291m among terraced slopes. You will stay overnight in Tachdirt in a gite d’etape (a Berber House with a hot shower). While dinner is being prepared, you can explore the village and interact with the friendly Berber villagers. You might observe how they cook their meals, bake bread, make soups, or construct their houses from pise, a mixture of stone and mud.
Tachddirt - Iaabassene - Timichi
Timichi - Isghouarne - Agadir n’ait Boulmane - Setti Fadma
Setti-Fatma - After breakfast, you will embark on a 5 to 6-hour eastward hike down the valley. The valley, or ‘wadi’, is filled with cornfields and orange groves, intersected by streams flowing from the upper slopes. You’ll pass through the villages of Isghouarne and Agadir n’Aït Boulmane to reach the end of the Ourika Valley and arrive at Setti Fadma, an ancient Berber village surrounded by waterfalls and nut trees. There will be a picnic stop just outside the village before a final half-hour hike to rejoin the vehicle and return to Marrakech.
