A Heartwarming Feast at Grandmom Oyette and Grandad Bong's - Dining at their home was a delightful experience filled with love and authentic Filipino flavors. The crispy fritters were addictive, while the creamy ginataang langka and flavorful bistek bangus stole the show. The refreshing buko juice and comforting miswa soup added balance, and the tangy adobong baboy na puti was a unique and delicious twist on a classic. Each dish was prepared with care, making this meal not just a culinary treat but a warm, unforgettable family memory. Truly, a feast to cherish if you wish to experience homemade Filipino cuisine around a warm family table far from the tourist hubs.

A Heartwarming Filipino Feast at Grandma Oyet's - If you want to experience a true Filipino Salo-Salo or shared meal, Oyet's house is the place to go. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family. Following Filipino tradition, we left our shoes outside and wore slippers indoors—a simple gesture that made the experience feel more authentic.
We were greeted with warm smiles, handshakes, and stories as they served buko juice and a sweet potato snack that looked like chips. They talked about their home, family, and how they learned to cook their delicious dishes, setting the perfect mood for the meal.
The main dishes were unforgettable. They served adobong puti (a version of adobo made with vinegar instead of soy sauce) and bistek made with milkfish. Delicious! The bistek had a refreshing twist with milkfish, and the adobo was less salty but rich in traditional taste. Every bite was a delight and I enjoyed savoring the complex flavors.
While we ate, they continued to share stories about their lives, history, and even asked about our families. The warm atmosphere made the meal even more enjoyable, and before I knew it, I had eaten more than I planned!
We left with full stomachs and happy hearts. The food was amazing, but their hospitality made it truly special. Grandma Oyet's house is more than a place to eat; it's a place to feel at home.

The best traditional filipino food - We had a great experience. Tita Oyette made several really tasty home-cooked meals - which started with a refreshing drink made with cucumber and lemon.
A lot of food was prepared for our meal including misua, fried milkfish with atsara (a filipino pickle made with labanos, cucumber and vinegar), mixed vegetables cooked with coconut milk, our favourite beef steak, and palitaw for dessert. It was fun to have a conversation with tita oyette because she shared a lot of trivia and stories about the dishes she prepared. These foods are all authentic Filipino and each dish is made with a lot of natural and healthful ingredients. I would highly recommend for those who want to experience authentic filipino food.

Savor Traditional Filipino Feast with a Local Grandma in Taguig - I recently experienced a delightful meal in "Aunti"Oyette's house - where she and her family greet you like long-lost relatives. Eager to share stories and laughter over the dining table, their genuine warmth creates a delightful, casual atmosphere.
The menu boasts a variety of traditional Filipino dishes - each prepared with care. From the Missua soup, the flavorful Bistek, the tender Milkfish, or the soft coconut Rice Cakes, every bite offers a burst of authentic flavor I recognize from my own Filipino family events.
Aunti Oyette house is more than just a place to eat – it's an experience that allows you to connect with Filipino culture through food. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore beyond the unusual tourist spots and savor genuine Filipino life.

A Unique, Valued Experience - What a privilege it is to open the door to a private home in a foreign country and be received like an old friend. The copious quantities of food, the precious conversation, the insights into the life of a wholesome family living in tropical Philippines made for a unique, valued experience.

Nostalgic Traditional Filipino Foods of all time - The atmosphere is very alluring. GrandMa and GrandDad have a lot of stories to share. There is never a dull moment. Of course, typical Filipino food isn't just incredibly tasty and healthy, they also brings back memories of every Filipino child's early years. I couldn't contain my emotions, I started crying when they served me soup like what my mother had made whenever I got sick.

Taguig Traditional Filipino Food Feast - It was a FUNtastic experience to join a Traditional Filipino Food Feast. The informal, unpretentious ancestral home of the Soliven's is a great location with the comfortable ambiance and fresh cool air coming from the outside. The traditional food they served were really some of the Filipino's best. The Misua soup is classic, comforting and it pairs nicely with the crispy, flavorful side dish, Filipino fritters, I love the creamy coconut flavor of the veggies as it complements beautifully the crispy texture of the fried fish. I enjoyed the flavorful Filipino Beef steak or Bistek Tagalog and the dessert is creamy with luscious taste and sticky texture that makes it irresistible.
It's highly recommended to everyone who wants to experience the Traditional Filipino Food Feast.

Great Food, Great Stories, Great Experience! - The hosts' home is a cozy family nest with a nice, friendly ambiance.
The taste of every Filipino dish served felt authentic and. I loved the fritters, the fish and the beef. Even the cucumber water was a welcome treat on a warm day. We were entertained by the stories of Mr. & Mrs. Soliven, and we shared our own stories as well. Great home, great neighborhood, great stories and a great overall experience.

Real Manila - The way to "Local Grandma's" is a world apart but just a stone's throw away from the gleaming order of BGC: it's a gentle community, very safe indeed, of low-rise houses, side streets, street vendors, small firms, lots of foliage. And the welcome when you get there is exquisite, so warm and friendly! We sat and had a cooling drink of cucumber, ginger & lime and chatted for a while before lunch was served, which began with mixed fried vegetables, pakora style, followed by a delicious 'pinakbet' course - again a variety of mixed vegetables - eggplant, beans, bitter gourd, etc - and a third course of 'bistek Tagalog', a sumptuous traditional beef dish done to perfection. All through the meal Grandma told stories of the old days when the district was mostly fields and meadows and the US helicopters would fly overhead approaching the air base. We finished with dessert and sweets and never got to the end of the stories. Wonderful experience, authentic, heart-warming, and memorable. For tourists/visitors who want a proper experience of real Manila, and real Philippine cuisine, this is the way to go.
