Tainan - Upon arrival at Tainan HSR station, the guide will meet you to commence the Taiwan tour.
Anping Old Street - Anping Old Street, the first street in Taiwan to be named, was constructed over 300 years ago by the Dutch in Anping. Initially designed for pedestrians and pushcarts due to its narrowness, it remains a must-visit for tourists. The lively atmosphere is a signature feature, with various old stalls and shops. Visitors, both local and international, can explore for unique items, admire the Wind Lion Gods on rooftops, or observe the Sword Lions on door lintels.
Chihkan Tower (Fort Provintia) - Built by the Dutch in 1653, Chihkan Tower was originally a fort by the sea. Over time, sedimentation has moved the coastline westward, leaving only the fort’s foundations. Now, beautiful Chinese-style structures occupy the site, offering a lovely garden to explore and enjoy a coffee before continuing the Tainan tour.
Confucius Temple - Tainan’s Confucius Temple, over 350 years old, is a must-see in a city full of significant sights. The ancient buildings and gnarled trees in the forecourt convey a deep sense of history. Confucius, a renowned educator and philosopher, is known to all of Chinese descent. His teachings, though conservative, emphasize moderation in life. One of his key principles is the Golden Rule: Do not do to others what you do not wish for yourself.
Garden Night Market - Known as one of Taiwan’s best night markets, Garden Night Market offers food at lower prices than in larger cities like Taipei. Besides numerous food stalls, there are clothing and games, making it easy to spend 2-3 hours here.
Tainan to Kaohsiung
Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum - This Buddhist landmark, housing a tooth relic of the Buddha, opened in late 2011. The 108-meter-high statue is the tallest bronze sitting Buddha globally. The permanent exhibitions provide a great introduction to Buddhism’s role in modern Taiwanese society and the history of this global organization.
Dragon Tiger Tower - The Dragon and Tiger Pagodas, two seven-story vibrant buildings, are located near Kaohsiung HSR station. Visitors should enter through the dragon and exit via the tiger to bring good luck.
The Pier-2 Art Centre - Once abandoned harborside warehouses, Pier-2 was revitalized by the local government, encouraging artists and cultural businesses to establish themselves here. It is now a popular spot for both locals and tourists, where you can also experience Kaohsiung’s light rail transit.
Kaohsiung to Kenting
Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Culture Park - The journey to Pingtung, Taiwan’s southernmost city, begins with a visit to the Indigenous Peoples Culture Park. Taiwan recognizes sixteen indigenous ethnic groups, and this extensive museum offers a wealth of knowledge about them.
Shanchuan Glass Bridge - Enjoy a walk around the bridge featuring aboriginal designs.
Kenting sightseeing
Kenting National Park - Covering most of Taiwan’s southern peninsula, Kenting National Park boasts diverse natural scenery, including beaches, coral reefs, forests, hills, pastureland, and sand dunes. In the afternoon, travel along the stunning coastline to Longpan Park, the southernmost point where you can view both the Pacific Ocean and Bashi Channel.
Longpan Park - Longpan is a vast grassland beside the Jia-Oh highway, near the Pacific Ocean beach. The area, based on coral reef limestone tableland, features a variety of eroded limestone ridges, subterranean caves, and red soil.
Exciting activities or relax on the beach
Kenting National Park - A range of activities can be arranged, including thrilling sea activities, Jeep tours, Long Keng Marine Ecological Protected Areas, and horse riding. Alternatively, relax at the hotel and enjoy its amenities.
