Highlights
  • Asakusa - We’re not going to let an opportunity to show you Senso-ji slip by. With your knowledgeable guide at your side, you will learn about the history of this very early Buddhist Temple in Japan. You’ll find out why it differs in appearance from most temples in Kyoto, or most anywhere else in Japan for that matter.
Asakusa today is much more than just Senso-ji and the shopping street leading up to it. This was also the case a hundred years ago, when Asia’s first subway started operation between Asakusa and Ueno, which is our next stop.
The fact that the first subway was built here demonstrates just how central, busy, and valuable the area was once. That is not to say the area has fallen on hard times. But, rather, to point out that the Asakusa/Ueno area once held the prominence that Shinjuku and Shibuya hold in the metropolis today. Hard to imagine, but true.

Great Tour! - We met our tour guide at the appointed place and we proceeded to visit the Senji Temple area, took the subway to Ueno, and then to a beautiful Japanese garden. We were pleased to discover that we were the only two on the tour, so the tour guide, a young man from Nepal, was very sensitive to our needs. I sprained my ankle 2 weeks preceding the tour, so I had to go slowly and rest periodically, which was fine with him. He also showed us how to use the subway, and navigate the various lines on our tour the next day. He was also super knowledgeable about the history and religious customs of Japan. I would definitely recommend this tour to others. However, it is a lot of walking, so be prepared!

Amazing Tour, Highly Recommend - Full disclosure, as a solo, woman traveler Japan was initially an intimidating endeavor. My guide, Ricardo tempered my unease and he was also extremely knowledgeable about all the sights we visited. Make sure you wear your sneakers because it is a lot of walking. I loved my experience with Ricardo and I appreciated his thoroughness and time. Definitely recommend this tour!!! Thank you again, and I hope your kiddos and wife are doing well Ricardo!

Great intro to East Tokyo sights! - Great tour and perfect amount of time for our family to experience sights with food sampling and plenty of opportunities for questions along the way! We felt lucky to get Ricardo, as he was a fantastic guide with lots of energy and local knowledge. It was a combination or walking and subway trains, so wear comfy shoes!

Michelle made Tokyo a dream destination! - Our tour with Michelle was the best we had on our Honeymoon trip to Japan. We learned so much about Tokyo, it's people and the culture from her. She went above and beyond in every degree and even found a gem of restaurant that had was able to accommodate my wife's Dairy and Shellfish allergy. She made us feel cared for and looked after. We have the highest praise for her and will recommend her to everyone we know who will be coming to Japan like we did.

Asakusa small group - Our guide Andrew had an excellent knowledge of the tour area and catered the experiences along the route to suite all the people in our small group. It was very pleasant to have someone take the role of navigator for half a day which allowed us to concentrate on the sights and experiences
