  • Shitaya Shrine - Let’s go for a walk! First, we’ll buy Taiyaki from a nearby store. Taiyaki is a fish-shaped baked sweet filled with red bean paste. Enjoy a freshly baked taiyaki as we walk to the shrine. Shimotani Shrine is the oldest Inari shrine in Tokyo, dating back to the Nara Period, around 1,300 years ago. Our guide will explain Shintoism and Inari-sama. - 平山紙店 - Washi is a durable paper with excellent preservation qualities and a design rich in Japanese style. We’ll visit a long-established paper store that’s been in business for over 100 years. Come and feel the washi for yourself. - Asakusa Higashi Hongan-ji Temple - This temple is the head temple of the Jodo Shinshu sect. It boasts a magnificent hall and is always visited by many people. The main deity, Amida Nyorai, is enshrined here. - Kappabashi Street (Kappabashi Dogugai) - Japanese kitchen knives are highly regarded by chefs worldwide. If you wish, our guide will take you to a recommended knife shop. - Nakamise Shopping Street (Kaminarimon) - We’ll walk from Kappabashi Tool Street and disperse in front of the Kaminarimon of Sensoji Temple. The guide will take your photo in front of Kaminarimon. The tour ends here, but please continue to enjoy sightseeing in Asakusa!

Taiyaki is one of the most popular Japanese baked sweets with red bean paste. First, we will head to Shimotani Shrine, famous for a god called Inari-sama, while eating take-out of crispy, chewy taiyaki. We will visit shrines and temples. During the tour you have a chance to learn the differences between shrine and temple!! On the way, we will stop at a store famous for Japanese paper and explain about gift cards and “congratulatory gift bags” unique to Japan! Also you will visit the Kappabashi Shopping Street, which is a favorite of chefs, and will be introduced to kitchen knife shops and other cooking utensils that showcase Japanese skills. Finally, the tour will end at Asakusa’s Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate). This area is a tourist spot, so there are many fun places to visit even after the tour is over!

Hard Rock Cafe is located on the first floor of the "Atre East" Building in Ueno. This building is connected to Ueno Station. Exit the Central Gate of JR Ueno Station, go straight for 50 meters, and you will find it on your left. We meet in front of the entrance of the café.
