Onsen (Hot Springs): The Hakone area is famous for its natural hot springs (onsen), with several lakeside resorts and ryokans offering relaxing hot spring baths with beautiful lake views.
- Hakone Pirate Ship Tōgendai Port - This sightseeing ship sails Lake Ashi like a pirate ship! Currently, there are three different pirate ship designs. Don’t miss the prime spots where you can see both Mt. Fuji and the laketop torii gate of Hakone-jinja shrine in the same view! Besides the views around the lake, the ship’s details are also a sight not to miss!
Pirate cruise and Ropeway Cable Car fees are not included; customers can choose to participate in these activities or skip them.
- Owaku-dani Valley - Owakudani, also known as the “Great Boiling Valley,” is a volcanic valley in Hakone, Japan. Part of the Hakone Volcano, Owakudani is a popular tourist destination known for its unique and dramatic natural features.
Owakudani is famous for its geothermal activity, evident in the numerous hot springs, sulfurous fumes, and bubbling pools of hot water. Visitors can see steam rising from the ground and smell the distinctive sulfur odor.
Black Eggs: A unique experience in Owakudani is eating “kuro-tamago” or black eggs. These are regular chicken eggs boiled in the hot springs, and the sulfur in the water turns the eggshells black. It is believed that eating one of these eggs adds seven years to your life.
The Hakone Ropeway connects Owakudani with Lake Ashi and Togendai.
Souvenir Shops: Owakudani has several souvenir shops where visitors can purchase local products, including snacks made from black eggs, sulfur-based cosmetics, and other volcanic-themed souvenirs.

It’s one of the longest suspension bridges in Japan and a great spot for sightseeing and photography.

- Oshino Hakkai - (Optional)
Oshino Hakkai (忍野八海) is a touristy set of eight ponds in Oshino, a small village in the Fuji Five Lake region, located between Lake Kawaguchiko and Lake Yamanakako on the site of a former sixth lake that dried out several hundred years ago. The eight ponds are fed by snowmelt from the slopes of nearby Mount Fuji that filters down the mountain through porous layers of lava for over 80 years, resulting in very clear spring water revered by the locals. Next to one pond, visitors can drink the cool water straight from the source. The ponds are quite deep and have interesting freshwater plant life and large fish. Although the ponds have been developed into tourist attractions and can become quite crowded with visitors, they have a pleasant atmosphere as long as you do not expect untouched nature.
- Mt. Fuji 5th Station - (Optional)
Experience the breathtaking views from Mt. Fuji’s 5th Station, located at 2400 meters above sea level, halfway up the iconic mountain. Admire panoramic landscapes and explore the scenic observation deck. (Depending on road/weather conditions, this is the last point at Mt. Fuji accessible by car. Please understand that visiting the 5th Station is weather-dependent. During the hiking season, access to the 5th Station is restricted.
A shuttle service to Mt. Fuji’s 5th Station is available from July 2024 to September 10, 2024 (Hiking Season). The shuttle ticket costs ¥2500 Japanese ($20 USD) per person, which customers must pay.
- Hakone Shrine / Kuzuryu Shrine Singu - Kuzuryu Shrine Singu (九頭龍神社 新宮, Kuzuryū Jinja Shingū) is a sacred shrine located near Hakone Shrine on the shores of Lake Ashi in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is the more accessible, modern companion to the original Kuzuryu Shrine Honsha, which is deeper in the forest and only accessible by boat or hiking. The word “Kuzuryu” means “Nine-Headed Dragon,” and the shrine is deeply associated with dragon mythology, water gods, and spiritual energy.
