Highlights
  • Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center - Asakusa Culture Tourist Information Center: Here is more than just a tourist center. The observation terrace on the top floor overlooking the Asakusa city is one of the amazing spots. It’s the only place in Asakusa where you can see the city from the top of the building.
  • Senso-ji Temple - Sensoji Temple: Sensoji is Tokyo’s oldest temple with the large red lanterns that have become the symbol of Asakusa. The gorgeous red buildings are worth seeing and the temple is a famous sightseeing place where a majority of people visit when they come to Tokyo. On the way to the main temple at Nakamise street, you will find a variety of stores that sell souvenirs found only in Japan. The area is always crowded with people, no matter the season.
  • Asakusa Shrine - Asakusa Shrine: This shrine is famous for one of the three major Japanese festivals in Tokyo: Sanja Matsuri. Shrines and temples are different religious institutions, but the Asakusa Shrine has a strong connection to Sensoji Temple. Enjoy the story of Sensoji and the Asakusa Shrine!
  • Asakusa Nishi-sandō Shopping Street - Asakusa Nishi-Sando Shopping Street: Asakusa Nishi-Sando Shopping Street is lined with festival-themed decorations and shops, and is a place where Japanese tradition and tourism intersect, making it a popular place for tourists and locals alike.
  • Hoppy Street - Hoppy Street: The street with lots of restaurants, outdoor tables, and reasonably priced drinks. There are a lot of tourists walking along the street to enjoy the atmosphere. Many locals come here to enjoy a glass of sake and a snack.
  • Kappabashi Street (Kappabashi Dogugai) - Kappabashi Dogugai: This is a shopping district with many specialty shops selling knives, tableware, and other kitchen tools. It’s a popular tourist spot where you can get professional kitchen knives and food samples, which are becoming more and more popular in Japanese culture. You’ll find high-quality products made by craftsmen and a great souvenir!
  • Gonpachi Asakusa Azumabashi - GONPACHI: This is a handmade soba restaurant located at the foot of Azumabashi Bridge. The Sumida River and Sky Tree can be seen from the large windows inside the store, making it a perfect location to enjoy the scenery of Asakusa. Gluten-free options are also available.
  • Tokyo Skytree - Tokyo Sky Tree: It is the tallest building in Japan at 634 meters opened in 2012 (and known as the tallest tower in the world). There are a mall, aquarium, and office buildings around the tower. This tour will take you to the Sky Arena on the 4th floor for a spectacular view of the Sky Tree.
  • Tokyo Solamachi MISE - Tokyo Soramachi: Tokyo Solamachi is a commercial complex adjacent to Tokyo Skytree. Based on the concept of “new downtown style,” it is comprised of many elements such as a shopping mall, entertainment, dining, and cultural experiences. You are sure to find the perfect Tokyo souvenir for you!

Great 1 Day Tour - We had a great time with Hinako! She helped us find good shopping spots and recommended great places to eat. We saw a lot in 1 day and it really helped us find our way in Tokyo. The tour had a good itinerary. I enjoyed the mix of sights and visiting small streets with local shopping.

A great day in Asakusa - Mike was a wonderful guide and it was a pleasure to spend my first full day in Tokyo with him. We are explored the local area in depth, had a few laughs and I really learnt about the history of the area as well as the modern life here. I would happily recommend to other tourists to the area. It’s a great way to familiarise yourself with this part of Tokyo and Mike was great. Thank you.

Ueno Park to Skytree with Asakusa in Between - Yuka (Suzuki) was our guide for this tour, and she did a fine job. She was knowledgeable about the areas we visited and her English skills were also pretty good! We used the local bus a couple of times to get around, and she escorted us to the Skytee which we appreciated. We saw some great sites, but I would suggest starting at Ueno Park, next to Senso ji, and ending up at Skytree. I think that's a more efficient route, and would reduce the amount of walking and/or time spent on the bus.

Tetsu - (otomo) A+ guide - This was my first trip and day in Japan. Tetsu is an enthusiastic guide who oriented my family to the neighborhood, shops, and Japanese culture, and was very knowledgeable about the temple and shrine. Tetsu advised that there was a huge annual parade a 20 minute subway ride away outside Asakusa, and asked if we were interested. We said yes. It was a huge religious festival with music and dancing. Tetsu is very caring - the tour was booked for 4 hours but he stayed with us longer to accompany us back to the tour starting point near our hotel which required three subway transfers. We are glad he did! And he gave us his email address and invited us to ask questions - even about our next destination - Koyoto.
