Experience Zen meditation at a hidden temple in Asakusa, Tokyo, with a history spanning over 400 years. While Zen is globally renowned and recognized, there are few places in Japan where you can have the best Zen experience with English support. This temple is not open to the general public.

Due to our strong connection with the temple, we offer a private Zen experience, fostering a connection with the monk and enjoying activities such as a tea ceremony. We’ll meet at the temple, where you’ll learn briefly about Japanese culture and Zen. Following that, a monk will personally lecture on the principles and techniques of Zazen (seated meditation), and you’ll have the opportunity to practice.

Finally, you’ll have the chance to experience a matcha tea ceremony and engage in a free talk with the monk.

Moreover, capturing photographs with the monk and within the temple is also possible, creating lasting memories for a lifetime.

Very memorable experience - This was an incredible experience during our trip to Japan. We were able to practice a sitting meditation, and then calligraphy, and finally a small matcha tea ceremony. This was a very memorable experience and our translator was very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this as an intro to zen meditation.

Wonderful experience - This was a wonderful experience with my family. We spent time in seated meditation, did a calligraphy activity, and ended with a short tea ceremony during which we were able to ask the monk questions about Zen Buddhism. Our translator was incredibly warm and helpful. This will be one of our most memorable experiences from our trip to Japan.

Very special and unique Tokyo experience - Deepest thanks to Namiki-san and Kazu for such a meaningful experience for our family. We're two parents and two teens who found our meditation session to be a truly memorable and much-needed addition to our Tokyo itinerary. We enjoyed everything about the session, and getting to ask questions and receive such thoughtful answers from the monk was really appreciated. The amount of time for the meditation sessions, tea, and sutra drawings is perfectly allotted for families looking for a unique spiritual experience without taking up a huge chunk of the day. I also recommend you take advantage of the monk's willingness to refocus your meditation with the wooden stick! This is a great activity to do in the morning and then head over to Senso-ji right after.

Tokyo Zen Meditation Experience - A must do! - So special. Thank you to our tour guide Ken and Namiki-San for such an authentic experience. The duration was 1.5hrs but we did so much in that time - 20 minute zen meditation followed by Japanese caligraphy, prayer, and a matcha tea ceremony during which we could converse with Namiki-San. Ken was a very knowledgeable guide with excellent English and translation skills. Highly recommend for anyone that wants to try an authentic meditation and temple experience in Tokyo.
