Iskanderkul, a mountain lake formed by glacier activity, is located in the Sughd Province of Tajikistan. It sits at an elevation of 2,195 meters (7,201 ft) on the northern inclines of the Gissar Range, situated within the Fann Mountains. The lake, which has a triangular shape, spans an area of 3.4 square kilometers (1.3 sq mi) and reaches a maximum depth of 72 meters (236 ft). Recognized as one of the most picturesque mountain lakes in the erstwhile Soviet Union, it is a favored location among tourists.
