Stunning views, great company, would recommend! - We visited as a family of four adults at the end of October, joining a small group of 8 people in total. We were very fortunate with the weather that day—it was beautiful. The unusually warm summer delayed the turning of the autumn leaves, which worked out nicely for us. This tour was the only one at the time that included both the Shinhotaka Ropeway and Kamikochi (since we couldn’t decide between the two). Our favorite part of the tour was walking through Kamikochi. The views were absolutely stunning, and we’d happily do that walk again. It was an easy trail and thanks to the driver meant it was one-way for us, which gave us plenty of time for pictures, souvenir shopping, and/or a relaxing afternoon tea break at the end. The ropeway was great too! A very convenient way to take in the surroundings with a big observation deck at the very top. There are many hiking options here from beginners to experienced hikers. The company also offer dedicated hiking tours in Shinhotaka, which we would have loved to try if we’d had more time. The tour itself was run very efficiently, and our guide, Hemi was fun, friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed chatting with him about life in Japan. Thank you, Hemi, for navigating the queues and helping us take great pictures! Snow Monkey Resorts went above and beyond to assist us with our travel plans. Instead of returning to Takayama, we continued on to Matsumoto via public transport. Thank you, David, for making that process so smooth and offering such a flexible option.

Autumn Experience - The ropeway was closed during our tour, but we were able to spend more time in Kamikochi. We were very lucky with the weather and we even saw monkeys. Our guide, Hemi, was very nice and was able to tell us a lot about the area.

Leave the planning to the experts and enjoy the scenery - Book this tour and save yourself the hassle of having to navigate all the modes of transport yourself! A friendly guide will take you through the ropeway and Kamikochi, allowing a good amount of time at each and a smooth journey where you can just enjoy yourself. The views at the ropeway are unreal and Kamikochi is stunning.

Worth it! - We had a wonderful time! We believe the tour was very well worth going because we saw so much natural beauty that we would not have been able to see otherwise. We also had a very knowledgeable tour guide.

5 star experience and good value for money. - Well structured tour of Japan’s alpine scenery that exceeded expectations. Our guide Hemii was born in New Zealand and has lived in Takayama for 5 years. He was a fountain of knowledge about the history, geology and biodiversity of the area. He was also attentive to the needs of different members of our group, and structured the program accordingly. All in all - a 5 star experience and good value for money.

Excellent tour and stunning views - For our tour, our guide was very knowledgeable. Took us up the rope way and gave us a history of the area, before taking a walking tour of the tamikochi area. We were the only ones booked for the day so had the guide to ourselves, so we could set the pace of our tour. Highly recommend this company.

2024 best trip - The tour was one of best I had in my whole stay in Japan this year. It was rainy at the start of the trip but the insights and quips from the tour guide made the tour fun. The 2nd half of the trip at Kamikochi was splended I can't wait to go back and experience the tour in winter season.

Nice - It was fun! Had a nice time walking around kamikochi. Although with Shinhotaka we weren't so lucky! We didn't get a view. The guide was good and tried his best to make the best out of the situation.
