- Mulgirigala Raja Maha Viharaya - Begin the day with an 8:30 AM pickup from your hotel in Tangalle and head first to the Rock Temple.
(Mulkirigala Raja Maha Vihara is an ancient Buddhist temple in Mulkirigala, Sri Lanka. It is built on a 205 m (673 ft) high natural rock, surrounded by four other rocks known as Benagala, Kondagala, Bisogala, and Seelawathiegala. The temple has been officially recognized by the Government as an archaeological site in Sri Lanka. Nestled in a forest of coconut trees, the serene rock temples of Mulkirigala await. Climb the 500 or so steps to discover a series of seven cleft-like caves on five different terraced levels. Inside the caves, you will find large reclining Buddha statues interspersed with smaller sitting and standing figures. The view from this temple is truly breathtaking.) Afterward, visit the Big Buddha Temple, enjoy a fresh coconut drink, and then proceed to:
- Wewurukannala Vihara - The Big Buddha is one of the most remarkable Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka. The Wewurukannala Vihara temple is dominated by a seated Buddha statue that is 160 ft high, the largest in all of Sri Lanka, dating back to the time of King Rajadhi (1782 – 1798). The temple has three parts, the oldest being about 250 years old. Finally, head to the last stop of the trip, the Blow Hole.
- Hummanaya Blow Hole - Hummanaya is the only known blowhole in Sri Lanka and is considered the second largest in the world. It is a natural blowhole caused when sea water rushes through a submerged cavern and is pushed upwards. The sea water flows underneath the shore and then comes out of this hole due to pressure. Return to Tangalle, arriving at your hotel around 1:30 PM.
(If you prefer to see the Rock Temple at sunset, start the tour at 1:30 PM with the Blow Hole first, followed by the Big Buddha Temple. Enjoy a fresh coconut drink before visiting the Rock Temple for a beautiful sunset. Return to Tangalle, arriving at your hotel around 7:30 PM.)

Fantastic day trip and guide if you want to see more than the beach at Tangalle - Recently had a fantastic 1/2 day tour with Sujith around Tangalle. Sujith is an engaging and friendly guide (which was perfect for a solo traveller). He's also flexible and willing to go the extra mile for guests. Not only was he happy to wait 15 mins for the blowhole to come alive, he added a stop at the Navy Monument when i asked to be dropped off there post tour, and after dropping me off post tour for lunch, picked me up and drove me back to my hotel afterwards. Service!!!
A couple other notes:
- Sujith drives the coolest tuk tuk i saw in 2.5 weeks in Sri Lanka - with a minibar for cool drinks, mini fans for the heat and a little bin as well.
- Sujith is a bit of a social media wiz, so don't be surprised if he sends you a highlights video of your tour!
- I suggest visitors read up about Wewurukannala Vihara and if desired, chat with Sujith (after booking the tour) about alternative sights.

Exceptional tour from Tangalle - Where should I start... First of all, Sujith is a very nice, open and courteous guide. We are really glad that he was our guide. He impressed us with his good mood and positive attitude. We felt very safe with him throughout the entire trip. His tuktuk is particularly comfortable and has everything you need for a long tour. Sujith explained a lot, was able to share a lot of information, which also led to great conversations. The afternoon tour was well thought out. We were fascinated by all the places (blow hole, giant Buddha, rock temple). Sujith led the tour at each place. During the tour he responded very carefully to our individual questions and requests. Water and King Coconut were included. We particularly liked the fact that he recorded all the highlights himself with his camera and turned them into a short video. All photos and videos were easily shared with us via WhatsApp. A great memory for us! You can tell that Sujith is doing it with heart and soul. Lovely evening watching the sunset. - Really enjoyed our Sunset Tour to the Rock Temple with Sujith.
He is a very friendly and knowledgeable guide.
We enjoyed a coconut drink along the way.
We made it to the top of the rock in time for sunset and got some great photos.
We highly recommend this tour.

A great tour of the local sights. - Sujith was the perfect guide, he picked me up on time and had plenty of knowledge about the places we visited. He was flexible about where we stopped, adding an ATM, a rambutan stall and the fishing harbour to the itinerary! It was lovely to travel in the very comfortable tuk-tuk, the views of the local countryside were gorgeous and he drove really safely. Would highly recommend this tour.

AMAZING tuktuk tour! - This tour was above and beyond our expectations! Sujith was an amazing tuk tuk tour guide from start to finish!
First, I accidentally booked the wrong date- upon realizing my mistake, he reached out to me to confirm, was happy to take us on the date I meant to book, and didn’t make us pay extra or do anything to the booking.
He picked us up promptly on time (even waited for us to finish our breakfast) and instantly was knowledgeable and welcomed all of our questions. He took us to the rock temple first, where he came in with us to explain their religious customs, he then gave us an awesome pit stop to drink some coconut water straight from coconuts he provided! We then went to Big Buddha, a trendy beach for surfing (we mentioned we were beach people and have tried surfing before) and lastly to the paradise blowhole.
His enthusiasm did not waver throughout our day. He made the experience unforgettable! Then, as if he already hadn’t done enough, he dropped us off at a different hotel than the one he picked us up from (per our request). He is excellent at what he does! BOOK THIS TOUR, YOU WONT REGRET!

Definitely recommended if you are staying in Tangalle! - The tour with Sujith was really fun. He speaks great English, so it was easy to have a conversation.
We particularly liked the fact that he constantly documented the tour with photos and short videos, which he made available to us afterwards 🙂
His tuk tuk is the best we have seen so far. You can see that Sujith has really put a lot of thought into making the trip very pleasant for us holidaymakers.
We hope that his dream of traveling around Germany will soon come true 🇱🇰 🇩🇪

Bull's eye - We had a really lovely afternoon with Sujith. It was pouring with rain when he picked us up, but it was still a perfect tour. A very cheerful person who was able to answer our questions about the country and its people. It is definitely worth visiting the destinations with him, the cave temple was particularly impressive. We will come back next time when there is a sunset. Top service at a top price, a really particularly beautiful experience.

Top tuk tuk tour - Very nice trip with Sujith and hotel tech tuk tuk. We were lucky seeing the blow hole several times blowing, and the beautines of the temples. On the way, he also offer me a king coconut while we were looking to a beautiful loto lake. I couldn’t ask more.

Great day trip to see all the tourist highlights in the area - Really enjoyed my day out with Sujith. He arrived early to pick me up and was smiley, friendly and chatty throughout. His English is good and it's great for solo travellers as he keeps you company during the day. He's also very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions about local culture etc. He brought a king coconut for us to enjoy on the way and was flexible with where we stopped and how long we stayed in each place. The tuktuk is comfy with a charging point, fan and other gadgets available. He even filmed some moments from the day on his fancy 360 camera and shared the video with me after. Would recommend 💯.
