Ayatthaya Temples - We were lucky enough to visit this historic city with my girlfriend's family, who have lived in Bangkok for many years but, there are many tour operators that provide either private tours or group tours, that include not only this magnificent part of Thai history but other locations enroute. I whole heartedly recommend a trip to this incredible ancient city, which for over 400 years was Thailand's capital. This used to have palaces as splendid and as spectacular as the Grand Palace in Bangkok. It is now sadly in ruins after it was destroyed by the Burmese in 1767. As well as the Ancient Palace, Wat Chai Watthanaram Temple (which is very photogenic) and the enormous Wat Mahatat Temple, on the eastern side of Phraram Park in the city centre, which will blow your mind, there is also the Ayutthaya Historical Study Centre, where you can learn so much more about this incredible place. We walked a lot throughout our trip so I would definitely advise taking plenty of water. There is an air of tranquillity throughout this city. An overriding peacefulness that leaves you feeling calm and at ease with the world. I'm writing this quite a long time after visiting but if memory serves me correct it's about a two hour drive from the centre of Bangkok. One other bit of advice is that you are respectfully asked not to sit on any of the stones. I completely recommend a visit.

A great informative tour!... - A great informative tour! We really appreciated this tour because it was informative and insightful without being overly long/taxing. Concerns with trips like this is that you spend too much time at a place - but we felt like we had an appropriate amount of time at each stop without feeling rushed. Donna was a wonderful tour guide and really enjoyed her vibes as she was funny and informative without being awkward or cringey. The boat cruise back is shared with other groups - not just your group - but you get to sit by yourself (so my partner and I sat at a 2-person table) and enjoyed a great buffet of food. We were surprised by the quality of the food and enjoyed a great meal. The boat ride back is a little long, but we enjoyed the time to relax and cool down from the heat. Highly recommend!

A nice way to spend the day - I had a very nice time on this trip. The guide was very knowledgeable and the various places we went to were quite beautiful the food on the river cruise which okay? It could’ve been a little better sitting on the top deck watching the sites as we are cruising into Bangkok was a highlight for me.

It was a great experience... - It was a great experience overall. Some minor things like being picked up at 630/arriving before 700 but having to wait another hour - hour and a half before starting the bus trip was a bit tiring. The guide Mr First was friendly and we could see his love and pride for Ayuttaya and for his job, which was nice.

Excellent overall trip - Ayutthaya temples are fabulous to visit and the cruise to Bangkok turned out to be much better than we expected with a very good buffet. Our only disappointment was the chaos at the beginning transferring coaches and waiting ages for people to arrive.
