Better than the one in Vietnam 👌 - Last year in Vietnam we also went to the train market but just to see when the train came in. I loved this experience in Bangkok because we started by taking the train that way you see the market as you come in by train then you get a chance to shop whilst another train comes in later. So this experience was so much richer hence I loved everything about it. Oh the market was just a cherry on top but for me the highlight was the Maeklong railway market.

Train market tour and floating market - The tour was exactly as it was described. We went by air conditioned van. There were 9 people in our group. We had a driver and a tour guide. First we drove to a site to board the train. It took maybe an hour driving. We all boarded the train and luckily, we were all able to get a seat. The train was open air… no air conditioning. We went through the market on the train. Then we got off. The train continued down the track. We entered the market. About 15 minutes later, the train reversed direction and came through the market. We watched the vendors pull everything back so the train could pass. We were given about 45 minutes to walk down the tracks to the end of the market. Note: The walking surface between the rails and outside the rails was very uneven, and not well suited for a walker or wheelchair. Also, the heat index was over 100°. Additionally there is no breeze and they were cutting up fish in the market and it is very aromatic and crowded. Next we went to the floating market. It is essentially a canal loop with vendors on both sides. Some vendors were on boats, some on land. You could also walk through the market. There is one boat behind another and another so there is really no time to shop. On the left side of the canal were gondola type boats. On the right side there were motorized boats. They were loud and the motor exhaust filled the air. There was an umbrella over you, but there was no breeze. We were given about 30 minutes to shop the market. We returned to the van and it delivered us to the MBK mall were it was easy to get a cab back to our hotel. Note: we had a bit of trouble finding the original point of departure. The cab dropped us off too early and we walked a few blocks until we found the travel office… but it was closed. Another family showed up in the same location, one of them wandered around the corner and found the actual point of departure.

Fantastic Experience - Fantastic day out. Loved the train ride to the market and watching the train depart through the streets and the market getting back to normal. A unique experience. The floaring market ride was also incredible seeing the floating stalls from the water. I would highly recommend.

Particular and exciting experience - Particular and exciting experience because you never see a train crossing a market that is just before the arrival all shopkeepers remove the goods from above the track or curtains or chairs or whatever to allow the train to pass, and then put everything back in place. It is a pleasant experience and unique in the world I think visitors in considerable quantities.

Great day visiting railway and floating markets - A really great day out. We met at River City and then commenced our journey in a 12 seater bus with good air conditioning. It took about an hour to get to the first stop where we boarded the train. Train trip was 30 mins and we could see the areas where they farm salt. The train markets were busy, I can’t imagine how crowded it would be in high season! After the train market it was back in the bus and off to the floating market. We spent about 30 mins in the boat and purchased some delicious food as we went around the canals. There was 45 mins for lunch and further browsing and then back in the bus for the return trip to Bangkok which took about 1.5 hours.

Great experience - Interesting place to be... Roughly around 1 hour + from Bangkok via taxi. Booked Grab and driver offered his service to go back to Bangkok for 1000 bath. Which I find its fair, as he waited for us almost 4 hours ++, initial fare from Bangkok to Maeklong was 780 bath Came at noon so that we can catch the 1430hrs train passing the market. At the market, lots of souvenir to buy. Most tours offers morning but I was told around 3+, most shop are going to close thus shopkeepers are willing to bring down the prices since there are less tourist. Which is very true. Bought dried mangoes and fruits Roughly 100 bath off for each packs and even the commemorative t shirt goes at a lower price without bargaining. Prior to trains passing the market, we bought cool smoothies and we allowed to stay in the shop with "priority" best views while non customers have to line up outside the shops within the safe zones... Fun and interesting experience for everyone... And yes, the passing train is within arms length from the shops... The locals shopkeepers are very friendly and very accommodating. They even offer us to try the goods that they sell.

Interesting tour of Maeklong Umbrella Market - We enjoyed the train ride to Maeklong market which made us see on arrival what is happening on the platforms unlike the tourists amassed on the platforms waiting for the train to arrive in Maeklong

Railway & floating market definitely a good experience - Really great experience, although very busy and the traders were full on and beer overpriced in the floating market. Our guide was so friendly and attentive and getting the train was such a good experience. We didn’t like that the trip ended at a different location to what was on the previous details, 20 minutes further away to our hotel. This should be documented in the details from the beginning.

Not quite was we expected. - Sadly Bobby the your guide’s English was not quite up to scratch. Trip could be shorter with unnecessary stops. Also the information we were given was that your finished at same place it started. We booked our accommodation accordingly. It DID NOT, we were dropped at some shopping centre 300 TB from our accommodation. However, we did enjoy the tour.
