Construction of this magnificent white marble statue began in 1976, and it was finally completed in 2004. The statue sits on a hilltop, offering panoramic views of the island. As we stand before this colossal image of Buddha, we’ll learn about its significance to the local community and its role as a spiritual center.

Wat Chalong, officially known as Wat Chaiyathararam, is Phuket’s most revered Buddhist sanctuary. It gained prominence in the 19th century when two monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang, led the local people in a rebellion against Chinese tin miners and later provided medical care to the injured. The temple houses the revered relics of the Buddha and boasts impressive architecture
