Highlights
  • Tallinn Town Hall - The tour starts at Town Hall Square. The guide gives general information about the excursion, route and history of Estonia. You can tell us your preferences so that the guide can highlight them during the tour.
(5 minutes stop at the point + 3 minutes transitions)
  • Niguliste Museum - The Church of St. Nicholas is one of the oldest in the city. At this stop you will hear amazing stories about this church and the surrounding area.
(10 minutes stop at the point + 2 minutes transitions)
  • Freedom Square - Freedom Square is an excellent location for talking about modern city life and amazing statistical data.
(8 minutes stop at the point + 5 minutes transitions)
  • Kiek in de Kok and Bastion Passages Museum - The space in front of the impressive section of the fortress wall with its various towers provides an excellent backdrop for the story of medieval defenses. You will learn to determine the age of towers by eye.
(8 minutes stop at the point + 3 minutes transitions)
  • Toompea Castle - What does the word Toompea mean? Who is Long Herman? Where did the knights live? What is the system of government in Estonia? And why our guests often call the Estonian parliament cute? You will learn about this and much more on Palace Square.

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral
A constant favorite of our guests is the majestic Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Let’s talk about the features of the building and its difficult fate.
(15 minutes stop at the point + 3 minutes transitions)

  • St Mary’s Cathedral - Using the example of the oldest mainland church in Estonia, you will learn what Tallinn Gothic is and why wood turned out to be not the most reliable material for construction.
(6 minutes stop at the point + 4 minutes transitions)

  • Viewing Point Kohtuotsa - No spoilers: just the best view of Tallinn. Let’s count spiers, weather vanes, high-rise dominants and ferries.
(7 minutes stop at the point + 3 minutes transitions)

  • Patkuli Viewing Platform - Another observation deck, but a completely different view. You will find out how many islands there are in Estonia, how many towers surround the Old Town and why it is impossible to get from here by train to other European countries.
(5 minutes stop at the point + 5 minutes transitions)

  • Danish King’s Garden - What does the Danish national flag have to do with Tallinn? Why are there no faces on the monk sculptures in the garden? Such different questions and such interesting stories.
(5 minutes stop at the point + 1 minutes transitions)

  • Luhike Jalg - Short and Long Legs are not parts of the body, but entire streets of the Old Town. You will walk along paths that in the Middle Ages were the border of two different cities, and the streets were separated by a wall of mistrust.
(4 minutes stop at the point + 4 minutes transitions)

  • Great Guild Hall - The most cozy of the squares of the old city now and one of the most important in the Middle Ages. The territory of the Great Guild is replete with historically important objects. What are guilds? And what role guilds played in the life of a medieval city, you will find out here.
(5 minutes stop at the point + 3 minutes transitions)

  • Dominican Convent 1246 Museum - Katarina’s Lane is the most atmospheric corner of the old city, which is not so easy to find without a hint. Local craft shops, stunning views and, of course, incredible history.

Don't miss this tour! - Our guide Svetlana was wonderful. She shared a wealth of knowledge about the history of Estonia and many anecdotal and humorous stories. She also shared many suggestions about shopping for local goods and the cuisine available in the many restaurants available to us during our free time before catching our Ferry back to Helsinki.

The best tour for short time visitors to Tallinn! - Svetlana provided the best tour of Tallinn in only two hours. At the end she provides you with maps and recommendations for eating and visiting additional sites in Tallinn. She was open to questions during the entire tour and helped us out with pictures. Also enjoyed that the group was small and feels more like a personal tour. Thank you, Svetlana!

Great personal tour - Max made all the difference. His knowledge, sense of humor and enthusiasm made the tour enjoyable and educational. See if you can request him. He even gave us a good recommendation for lunch that wasn’t so touristy in the town square.

An Exceptional Walking Tour of Old Town Tallinn - This was an exceptional walking tour of Old Town Tallinn. The route covers all the important things you would want to see during your visit of Old Town. It takes you all over to amazing viewpoints, awesome points of interest, and the meeting spot is super easy an convenient to get to. The tour itself was amazing and educational and I am upset I can't remember the guides name cause he did so well! I learned a lot about the history of Old Town, the churches throughout, the daily life of Estonians, the history of Estonia, and fun facts and stories told along the way! I highly recommend this walking tour to anyone staying in Tallinn. It gives a great overview of the city, Estonia itself, and can be an excellent way to start your time in Tallinn as the guide can tell you things to do, places to see, and great food recommendations! If I am ever in Tallinn again with family or friends, I will be taking them on this tour.

Beautiful views, slightly long. - Loved the views and the varying architecture. The facts about the city were good. Could have been a half hour shorter! 25 people in a group is too many.
