Such a great experience time! - From beginning to end, we had such a great time! We were lucky and it was just us and Chamba; our guide. We were able to go at our pace and truly enjoy the waterfalls. Chamba had a great energy the whole time and was super patient and made sure we were safe throughout the whole time. We were lucky enough to also have some of the waterfalls to ourselves for a bit and Chamba took incredible photos and videos for us! We absolutely loved our whole experience!

Oh boy was it worth it! - Oh boy was this worth it!!!
Gaby was our guide and she was amazing. She taught us important historical facts including the most recent political history in the last few years on our ride to the waterfall. Although she is a guide, it’s required that anyone visiting the waterfalls have a designated guide. It was $25.50 for the entrance ticket and guide. This is private property so a portion goes to the property owners, the guide, and likely the city. The weather was perfect as we went at the end of the rainy season. It was about 72F overcast with a breeze near the top and got a bit hotter on the descent because there was no breeze. Details of the hike: the climb down was tough and the climb up was fairly brutal. The descent is tough of your knees and ankles. It’s mostly stairs made out of the forest floor. The type of shoe is super important. I used water shoes labeled as water/hiking shoes. I think the latter is a stretch. The following is best to worst: hiking boots (for ankle and sole support) > tennis shoes (sole support- make sure they are relatively flat but able to grip)> strap on hiking sandals > water shoes for hiking > watershoes> sandals > barefoot. The last two I strongly recommend against. Once you get to the water there are large river rocks in and around so water shoes are the best. The waterfalls are beautiful and surreal. The hike up… well I live to share this experience. It took us 70 min to get back up with many, many breaks. If I can do this 6 months post partum with 50 extra pounds, you can absolutely do it. It’s worth it! My guides were super patient and encouraging. Once we made it to the top there was a vendor selling homemade ice cream to celebrate the victory.
Next we visited El Tunco which was beautiful! We had about 1.5 hours to eat and explore. Highly recommend a visit. This will be top priority to visit again. This is a touristu attraction so prices will match but it doesn’t feel touristy. It looks and feels like a surf town.

The experience of a lifetime - Visiting these waterfalls was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. The hike to get there and back is a serious workout and tricky in some spots. You will be navigating steep grades, slippery conditions, and big rocks. But it’s so worth it. Bring lots of water, wear comfortable hiking shoes, and bring water shoes too.
El Tunco Beach is much more laid back, of course. Lots of restaurants to choose from and shops for souvenirs.
Gaby was so friendly and knowledgeable about the history and culture of El Salvador. We learned a lot from her on the drive to and from the sights. She speaks perfect English and is a very clear Spanish speaker if you’re learning the language and want to practice comprehension. She’s a safe driver too!
You won’t regret it! I will definitely book again to visit the waterfalls.

We went to the waterfall and it was brutal since I am an old fart of 52 and out of shape. Gaby was patient with me and had me la - This was my first time here in San Salvador so I didn't know what to expect. I have traveled to Mexico and Colombia so I was pleasantly surprised by my tour guide Gaby. She was professional, on time and knowledgeable of all aspects of the trip. I had an easy time with her that in my opinion it was better than most trips I have taken and will recommend it to friends and family.

Worth the hike - AMAZING!! The hike is fairly challenging so bring hiking shoes or boots for the best support and grip.
Then the waterfall and water is amazing. I’d bring a small backpack with water shoes to walk in the water without pain. You can do it barefoot but it’ll hurt so I’d recommend water shoes.

Flexible, fun, friendly guides and an overall blast!! - David and Fredy, our Tamanique waterfall guide were so great! They were really patient with us; the waterfalls are great and they were flexible on whether we wanted to go to the more difficult waterfall trail (we opted out). If you get too tired, you can hire a car to pick you up starting from the stony path upwards to the beginning of the trail. Fun adventure! Fredy took great pictures too!
El Tunco lunch was excellent, great views of the famous rock formation and got to do a bit of shopping before heading home. Thank you!

Waterfall Hike - I recommend this Tour. Communication was great well before the tour began. I was kept informed on when my pickup would be. The hike To and From the waterfall is moderately strenuous. Our tour guide David was great and recognized when another person on the tour wasn't going to make it back up and arranged for a specialized car service to meet that person halfway up the trail. The restaurant where we had lunch in El Tunco was also great.

Amazing Tour! - This was such an amazing tour! The highlight was definitely the Tamanique Waterfalls. It was so refreshing swimming after an intense hike. I went alone on this excursion, but Francis and Fredy made sure I was comfortable. Francis was such a great, friendly tour guide and I highly recommend! He was patient and didn’t ever make me rush the hike. He was very knowledgeable about fun facts about wildlife. Fredy joined us a an extra guide for the hike, but he was great as well. He took the best pics at the waterfalls!
Visiting El Tunco was great as well! I recommend everyone to bring water shoes to swim because the rocks were painful to walk on.

A 10/10 Experience! - So happy I was able to do this hike and swim in refreshing waters! Honestly loved the convenience of pickup and drop off from my hotel. My tour guides David and I can’t remember the other individual name got amazing pics of me😊. The lunch spot he took me to in El Tunco was too good! This was perfect for my solo trip as it was at least at my own pace with the hike and to enjoy the waterfalls. I definitely do recommend if you visit El Salvador
