- Tamarindo Beach Costa Rica - Begin your private surf lesson by meeting with local instructors at a designated location. A rash guard will be provided for you. The session will start with a review of water safety, as safety is the top priority! You will also learn or revisit the pop-up technique, proper paddling, surf etiquette, and other surfing techniques on land to prepare for the water with the guidance of an experienced instructor. After approximately 30 minutes of land-based practice, the instructor will equip you with a suitable surfboard and leash, and assist you in entering the water for a 1.5-hour session. The instructor will be in the water with you, helping you paddle past the breaking waves to find the optimal position for catching and riding a wave. Based on your previous surfing experience, you will either be assisted into a wave to practice your pop-up and surfing skills, or coached on catching your own wave, according to your preference and skill level. The lesson will be tailored to suit your surfing experience. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children, teenagers, adults, special needs surfers, and elders!

Tamarindo Beach features a world-class learning wave, ideal for everyone from beginners using a soft top board to advanced short boarders and everyone in between. We cater to all ages and skill levels, tailoring each lesson to meet your specific needs. We are passionate about teaching children, teenagers, adults, and surfers with special needs. Julia is a NY state certified Bilingual Special Education teacher, and Mario brings over 17 years of local surf instructing experience. Together, we form a dynamic team!
