Fun kayaking and decent snorkeling. - Great Tour. Highly recommend guide Dayves. Easy to find right off of the beach on the main street in Tamarindo. Thank you!

Worth it! - Our guide was amazing! We learned a ton about the island and he pulled a puffer fish & spider starfishes for us to look at. Wasn’t the best snorkeling in the world but was definitely still worth it!!

A lot to see at Captain’s Island - Natives way kayaking and snorkeling with Dīvis: What a pleasant way to spend a morning and get a mild workout, too! Met at the beach to launch the 2-person sit-upon kayaks into the surf. Then a 20 minute paddle to tiny Captain’s Island in the bay. Landing on the rocky shore was tricky because it was slippery. Watch out! Snorkeling in the warm water of the cove was great. An abundance of fish, along with some starfish and one lovely Zebra Moray eel awaited us. Our guide, Dīvis, was delightful. The expedition lasted 2 1/2 hours.

Good but you need water shoes - We had a beautiful day kayaking and snorkeling. One disappointing thing that made things more difficult for both the kids and adults —you NEED water shoes (like Keenes) and we were not told that! The island is extremely rocky and painful without shoes on. Water shoes should be required in my opinion!! Also, the tour lasted 45 minutes longer than what it was advertised to be, and since it was so very hot that day, it was just too long in the sun.

Over hyped - Kayaking was ok but the "snorkeling" was highly over sold. We basically spent $100 each to paddle to an island and look for sea shells

The waves were 2-3 feet... - The waves were 2-3 feet and it was an adventure paddling over the break to get off the beach. We got to the tiny island and realized we wouldn't be able to see anything snorkeling because the waves were kicking up too much sand. The waves were breaking pretty hard over the reef by the island so we waited around for a while to see if the waves would die down. They didn't, and getting back was an adventure and felt a little dangerous. We did capsize once getting back because of the waves, but it was near land and not a big deal. If we had known we wouldn't be able to snorkel I would have found something different to do with the 2.5 hours. I did this with my 11 year old son and it was definitely an adventure for us and a decent bit of exercise for me, but not at all what we were expecting. My son was super bored on the island, except for looking at the hermit crabs. I was worried about the waves when we took off, but I figured the island might be more sheltered and we could see some stuff, which turned out not to be the case. I wish the tour company had been more upfront that the waves meant it was unlikely we would be able to really snorkel, if they had we would have found something else to do, maybe just play on the beach in the waves. If our experience is any indication, if the waves are 2-3 feet or more, this is a wavy and vigorous kayak journey without snorkeling.

Easy kayaking but snorkeling was dull. - Nice guide and good kayaks, but not much to see around the island. Maybe bad luck that day? I don't think so given the amount of grass at the bottom of the water there. Anyway our masks were foggy all the time. So kayaking was OK but snorkeling wasn't.

No visibility snorkeling - The kayaking was fun but the snorkeling was not. Not sure if it was because of the weather but you couldn’t even see a foot in front of you. If you decide to go I would definitely recommend water shoes not that they really helpful on the very slippery rocks, when getting out on the island. But if you're a little squeamish about slimy feeling rocks it helps. Our guide slipped and fell hard, hopefully he was really ok ( as he said) and two people cut their hands on the rocks. It takes quite a while to get each person one at a time into the water ( we had 6 in our group). So by the time everyone was in we were more than ready to get out because you couldn’t see anything. The pineapple at the end was delicious and we did have some laughs!
