After the water activities we return to the boat to enjoy a delicious, light meal around 3:30 PM. Once the food service is complete we weigh anchor to head back to Tamarindo. All the while you’ll enjoy our good music, perhaps a little dancing, and likely an amazing sunset. We’ll deliver back to shore just after sunset.

Blue Dolphin Sailing is the original and longest sailing tour company in Guanacaste, creating memories and fun since 2004. We operate two sailing catamarans: Blue Dolphin 1 is a 40’ open layout catamaran and Blue Dolphin 2 is a large 50’ cruising style catamaran. We offer public and private charters. Our catamarans are outfitted for maximum fun and comfort. Our licensed staff provides excellent service while ensuring safety.
Tours during high season are likely to sell-out, so book early.
Reservation cut-off times:
morning tours are 5 pm the day prior to the tour.
afternoon tours are 11:30 am day of tour.

A time was had!! - The greatest Birthday experience! Prompt boating experience! They start on time and we ran a little late but communication goes a long way because they waited for us and communicated that we were okay. The crew was more than amazing, sweet,
Attentive and all around great experience! The food was great bean dip banana bread and the fruit was AMAZING! I would’ve loved if we could have had individual portions of the appetizers, ( but I understand that Costa Rica is eco eco-conscious country) Oh and possibly fixing the bathroom! However, Enjoyed the trip with my family. Definitely a highlight to our Costa Rica trip! Andres the captain and co captain all a great time. They even danced with us ! Great music, great vibes, the storm rolled in at the end of the boat ride but the crew got us back safely. They sung happy birthday while on the boat. All in all a great trip ! Definitely worth the price!! Thank you crew you all were great !!

Even better than expected - We boarded the Blue Dolphin just off the beach on the southern part of Tamarindo and went north about an hour to a small cove. On the way there the scenery was absolutely beautiful and I was able to cross something off my bucket list...whales! We were able to stop and watch not one, but TWO humpback whales repeatedly breaching the water and slapping the water with their tails. It literally brought tears to my eyes. I didn't get any photos because I didn't want to miss any of it while digging my phone out of our bag. Once in the cove we swam around in the surprisingly warm water before enjoying a delicious meal back on the boat. As we were heading back to Tamarindo to watch the sunset, the sky grew dark, the winds and waves increased, and the clouds opened up, drenching everyone on board. The ride back was pretty rough, but the crew did an amazing job keeping the mood light and everyone safe. It was such a fun day, but man did that warm shower feel good when we got back to the condo.

A definite must go!!! - The day was fun filled with great experiences. Got to see a few groups of dolphins swimming nearby and even jumping out of the water.
The hospitality and friendliness of the crew was amazing and the food/drinks were excellent.
The views of the coastline were spectacular including the sunset.
We definitely would recommend Blue Dolphin anytime.

Sister and Mom cruise - Spend a afternoon onboard with Mom and Sister. A wonderful experience. The crew did a great job watching out for Mom since she is older and not so steady on her feet. The Captain did an amazing job avoiding all the rain showers in the area. Crew actively slotted whales and dolphins for us and stopped to watch them. Crew member showed me all the good snorkeling spots and helped me spot all the good fish. Dinner was delicious. Crew very friendly.

2 thumbs up - 3 employees were nice and attentive. Scuba driving was fun, hour sail back n forth gave time for people to talk. 60yo getting drunk and twerking.

Wonderful tour! - This was a wonderful, fun trip for our family from youngest (age5) to oldest (age71). The staff did a great job of taking care of us, the good and drinks were excellent, the snorkeling was fun and the sunset cruise home was breath taking. Highly recommend!

Grwat Relaxation and Water activities - Excellent excursion. The crew was top notch and experience was great for me and my family. We were able to swim ti a beach from the boat and allowed snorkeling opportunities

Leisurely cruise on the sea - Kind of the vibe of a party boat, but still fun. Even with less than great visibility the snorkeling was a great time.

WORST EXCURSION EVER! - This excursion not only started off bad but continued to get worst. I dreded bringing my family and friends along for a terrible 5 hour journey.
Let’s start with the ‘Salty Crew’ , this catamaran was advertised as a nice sunset cruise and felt like I was on a fishing trip. There was NO OPEN BAR. A cooler of soft drinks as in liter size drinks that had to be poured, water that was in a punch cooler God knows if it was bottled or tap. And 1 cooler of a cocktail punch. Just bloody awful.
The crew served food in big large dishes which had to be passed around and everyone literally put there hands in there, double dipped etc. even crew members were gross and reckless eating , licking their fingers and sharing the same food they were offering the paying guest on the boat!
I immediately felt nauseous and embarrassed I wished I could turn back or evaporate from that boat it was FAR from what was advertised.
Thankfully, the sunset was the ONLY thing that did not disappoint. At the end of the long dreadful journey, we were placed on a small boat with the crew tightly packed to head to sure and told it would be good to give tips. I’m not sure if the crew is to blame or the host but it totally felt and smelled like a fishing trip. This should be immediately removed from Viator as an option. What’s being advertised is NOT what is happening here. Again NO OPEN BAR, disgusting selection of snacks /food. Unprofessional and unethical crew and just terrible management in general. This was totally dreadful and i wasted 5 hours of my life on Blue Dolphins dishing sunset tour. Absolutely tasteless and not worth even $10. DONT BE SCAMMED!
