Perfect Zoo & Recreation Park for Families with Children - This is a great zoo for families with young children. We visited with our three year old grandson and enjoyed a wonderful experience. The zoo is perfectly sized with a multitude of exhibits, descriptions, rides, playgrounds and eating/rest/bathroom stations. We stayed for three hours and could have stayed longer. Unlike other zoos, it is compact, shady and designed for younger kids. The grounds themselves are absolutely stunning and well cared for. A 5 star plus for sure! This really could be classified as a zoological theme park. Don’t miss this, perfect for a thoughtful and educational half day.

Always a great time - We always have a great time at this zoo. We’ve come for Christmas and Halloween events. We use the app to catch all the happenings throughout the park.

Nice day - This is a nice zoo that can be seen in 3-4 hours. There are experiences you can add for an additional fee. There are also rides and a splash pad for children. We wanted to see the zoo because we enjoy the show Secrets of the Zoo:Tampa. We liked the primate area, especially the orangs. We could have watched them all day. The Florida exhibits were cool, too. It’s a little pricey at $50. But your admission supports their work.

We would return - Decent zoo. Not huge and my guess is they're a bit short of money. We did the ride in the open vehicle but the whole thing seemed like an afterthought- looking at the backs of buildings more than seeing any animals.

Don’t Go on a Saturday!! ... - Don’t Go on a Saturday!! No Parking!! It was disappointing to find out the African exhibit was closed. Lots of high priced concessions!! Nice activities for children. Having watched Zoo Tampa on TV, I was disappointed that the full experience was not available!!

Not impressed - The price of admission was pretty high for as small as the zoo is. I would have thought Tampa would have had a bigger variety of animals. No zebras, river otters, lions or polar bears which most zoos have. I have been to San Diego Zoo and the Columbus Zoo and the Tampa Zoo fails in comparison. I wouldn’t recommend it nor will I return due to admission price versus what there is to see.

Meh. - When we first got there we were at manatee circle and they did the McCaw fly over. Which was pretty cool. Very informative. Then we walked to see the dinosaur exhibits they, online said it was open when we got there it was closed and would open on Feb 7th. The animals looked sad and bored. The red wolves did not have any kind of extracurricular toys. The tiger was so skinny and looked so underweight. Then not sure if he was about to get fed, he started walking in figure 8s looking at the top of his enclosure. He was waiting for something again nothing in enclosure. Plus the enclosure was so small. He had no where to hide and run and play. Then the panther Walter was so under weight you could count every rib he had. Really only a select few of animals had other things in their area for stimulation. I do somewhat like zoo setup. How it was sectioned off. The map was that is on the app was helpful. It could have listed a he savanna oasis was closed. All staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the employees on the safari tour. The actual setup for the tour was awful. The behind the scenes where you had to wait for the golf carts to pass. Plus you could not even see the giraffes while riding. The lady that put us on the boat didn’t ensure the we got on the bus correctly therefore the children couldn’t see fully. Food was good. We shared nachos between three people. Some of the displays they had were nice.

Disappointed in size and cost. - Disappointed with the numbers of animals. Most disappointing zoo we have visited. It was clean but super small especially for the cost of admission. I would not go back or recommend to friends or family.

Vastly overpriced for a mediocre experience - This might be OK for small kids as there seemed to be more rides and playgrounds than serious animal exhibits. The primate and manatee exhibits were attractive, but the African and Australian habitats were a big disappointment. No lions, leopards, warthogs or any other animals from the savanna, except some far off elephants and giraffes. No kangaroos or wallabies on display. The descriptive signs were elementary, offering little significant information about the animals. I have been to much better zoos for a fraction of the price.
