- Caves of Hercules - This fascinating cave complex on the African continent is steeped in myths and legends. According to lore, it was visited by one of Roman mythology’s most renowned heroes. Legend has it that Hercules (adapted from the Greek Heracles) rested here on his journey to steal three golden apples from the Garden of the Hesperides, which were believed to grant immortality. This beautiful cave is a great stop before heading to the Kasbah of Tangier.
- Parc Perdicaris - Known as “Perdicaris Park,” this 70-hectare park, once the playground of Perdicaris, boasts hundreds of Eucalyptus trees from Australia, introduced in 1919, as well as California, Canary, and Coconut palm trees. Visitors will also find dragon trees, mimosas, pine trees, Mirbeck’s oaks, weeping willows, and silver poplars. The park is adorned with many flowers, including rockrose, various flowering dandelions, madder, tree mallows, and Mediterranean fleabane. This incredibly diverse flora is partly nourished by the annual visits of migratory birds traveling from Europe to Africa. A beautiful botanical park to enjoy before heading to the old medina.
- Gran Mezquita de Tanger - Al Masjid Al Kabir, or the Big Mosque of Tangier, is one of the city’s most beautiful mosques, showcasing Moroccan designs and architecture. While it will not be visited from the inside, its beauty can be appreciated from the outside.
- Moshe Nahon Synagogue - One of the most beautiful synagogues among the 17 synagogues in Tangier, built in 1876. Tangier has always been a peaceful international place where all religions are respected.
- Musee de la Kasbah - Formerly known as ‘Dar al Makhzen’ or Sultan’s Palace, this museum occupies a significant portion of Tangier’s Kasbah. The building served as the residence of Portuguese governors ‘Domus Praefecti’ between 1471 and 1661. It became an important castle called ‘Upper Castle’ and was used by English governors between 1662 and 1684 until they were expelled by the Caïd Ben Abdellah El Hamani. Since then, this monument has been the seat of executive power and a symbol of local authority. The museum houses a collection of artistic, ethnographic, and archaeological objects, many originating from northern Morocco. It presents an exhibition of artifacts related to the Islamic history of Morocco, built in 1151 of the Muslim era (1782-1783 AD) by the pasha Ahmed Ali Rifi on the English Upper Castle and, according to legend, on the very spot where the temple dedicated to Hercules was built. The palace showcases the beauty of Moroccan architecture, with stunning mosaics and marble from Italy.
- Medina of Tangier - The old medina of Tangier is one of the finest old cities in Morocco, especially with its beautiful architecture and diverse quarters.
- Tangier Casbah - An ancient strategic military fortification, divided into two parts: the residential area where old Moroccan families and famous artists used to live, and a military base. Visitors will enjoy the clear narrow streets before heading down to the market and old medina.
