Dominating the skyline of Arusha National Park, Mount Meru serves as an ideal preparatory hike for Kilimanjaro, whilst remaining a compelling and scenic journey into the wilderness on its own.
Exploring Mount Meru is a true escapade. The hillsides of this sleeping (but not extinct - it last erupted in 1910) volcano provide captivating panoramic views and a vibrant wildlife habitat.
This volcano cropped up roughly half a million years ago, and its inaugural eruption sharply defined its eastern side, giving it its distinctive shape. Not to mention, Mt Meru boasts one of the deepest crater depths – exceeding 1,500 meters!
Our certified, Wilderness First Responder-qualified mountain guides will be guiding your trek. The Altezza Travel mountain team is responsible for all camping logistics, food, and other key expedition necessities.
In contrast to the shorter 3-day option, this Mt Meru trek includes an additional day for the descent.
