Arusha – Lake Manyara
Lake Manyara National Park - After an early breakfast, drive from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park, renowned for its rich birdlife. The park features a variety of trees, including sausage trees, umbrella trees, baobabs, and palms. Lake Manyara is home to over 400 bird species, such as pink flamingos, yellow-billed storks, herons, and corkscrews. Despite its small size, the park hosts mammals like zebras, lions, baboons, impalas, wildebeests, hippos, elephants, and buffaloes. It’s an ideal spot for relaxation and tranquility, offering a serene environment. The name Manyara comes from the Maasai word “Maa,” referring to the plants used to create hedges. Two-thirds of the park is an alkaline lake, often submerged in alkaline water. For those who love adventure, thrills, and nature, this place is a paradise.
Lake Manyara – Serengeti
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, leave the campsite in a 4WD with an open roof, heading towards the endless plains of the Serengeti. Expect to see a wide variety of wildlife. The park is famous for hosting the greatest wildlife show on Earth. Due to its biodiversity and ecological importance, it is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Maasai people have grazed their livestock in the Serengeti, which they named “Open Plains,” since the first European explorer, Austrian Oscar Bauman, visited in 1892. Arrive at your destination in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay at Seronera Campsite.
Serengeti plains
Serengeti National Park - After breakfast, enjoy a game drive along the Sogore River Circuit, which loops into the plains south of the Seronera River. This area is good for spotting lions, Thomson gazelles, topis, ostriches, and cheetahs. The Visitor Centre near the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites is worth a visit after the morning game drive. The center has a shop for cold drinks and snacks, a picnic area, and an information trail around a nearby kopje. Enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch at the center under the shade of giant acacia trees.
In the afternoon, follow the Kopjes Circuit, which goes anti-clockwise around the Maasai Kopjes. This area often attracts lions and large cobras, making it excellent for wildlife spotting during the dry season.
Serengeti plains – Ngorongoro crater
Serengeti National Park - Enjoy a morning game drive in Serengeti National Park, where the three largest cats are easily seen. Lions are abundant and often found on kills, cheetahs are common in the southeastern plains, and leopards can be seen lounging in trees along the Seronera River. Large herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephants and giraffes, and thousands of elands, topis, kongonis, impalas, and Grant’s gazelles are residents of the Serengeti year-round. After lunch, drive towards Ngorongoro Crater. Upon reaching the crater’s edge, you’ll have a remarkable view of this natural wonder.
Ngorongoro Crater to Mto wa mbu
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - After an early morning coffee, embark on a thrilling morning game drive. The crater is home to an estimated 7,000 wildebeests, 4,000 zebras, 3,000 elands, 3,000 gazelles, 600 hyenas, 200-300 elephants, over 60 lions, 30 rhinos, and many other animals. In total, over 25,000 wild creatures inhabit the Ngorongoro Crater. Bird enthusiasts will find 500 bird species, including ostriches, kori bustards, and secretary birds. From November to April, witness the myriad migratory birds that reside here. Indigenous tribes, including the Maasai, are allowed to live in the conservation area and graze their livestock in harmony with the wildlife.
Tarangire national park – Arusha Town
Tarangire National Park - Enjoy an early morning game drive in Tarangire National Park. The park’s beauty offers unparalleled game viewing, especially during the dry season when elephants are abundant. Families of elephants strip acacia bark from thorn trees, and the breathtaking views of the Maasai steppe and southern mountains make a stop at Tarangire memorable. You can see herds of elephants, zebras, buffaloes, and oryxes, as well as lions prowling for prey. Tarangire has more breeding bird species than anywhere else on the planet. After the game drive, return to Arusha with plenty of stories to tell from your 6-day tour.
