In the month of July, the migration of wildebeest takes a northern course, traversing the Lobo region (which lies just north of the central Serengeti National Park) and the Wagakuria region (a remote section of the northern Serengeti National Park beside the Mara River) on its way to the Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya. The migration may reach the Wagakuria region anytime from July onwards and wildebeests can be observed in the area, making their way across the Mara River. Come September, the herds of wildebeest disperse across the northern Serengeti National Park and the Masai Mara Game Reserve of Kenya. A number of sizeable wildebeest herds stay back in the region and at times, changes in the weather can lead the herds back to the area from the Mara. By October, the herds start their journey south towards the central Serengeti.
