Amazing experience and very professional setup - Hold da op, my parents and I had the most amazing safari together with our guide Denis. 5/5 all the way from Arusha to Mwanza: comfortable car, perfect choices of accomodation, experienced guide with impressive knowledge about the national parks and wildlife. Only good vibes. Shrike has worked very professional from day 1. Definitely recommend going on safari with Shrike!

Immersive experience - Shrike tailor made our three night/four day safari in the Serengeti and ngorongoro crater. Mark was very accommodating with our requests. We started our trip in arusha, made our way for two nights in a tented camp in the Serengeti. The camp, shuhudia camp, was lovely, very friendly staff, and very comfortable accommodation, with full private flushing toilets and shower. The food was delicious, cooked eggs in the morning, fruit, coffee, etc. Packed lunch provided for each day, lovely food. Dinner was three courses, and very nicely cooked. This is a non fenced camp, so no wandering around alone! Lots of wildlife comes in and around the camp. Our driver, Dixon, worked hard to locate all the animals we wanted to see, with the result that after one day, we had seen almost everything we wanted! Lions, cheetahs, elephants, leopards, buffalo, giraffe, antelope, wildebeest, hyena, zebra.... Dixon was very sensible about the distance he kept from the animals, which couldn't be said about some other drivers! We saw another jeep getting chased by a buffalo, not a good situation. Also, the jeep was in good condition, pop up roof, and very importantly with the four wheel drive working. Saw several jeeps which had broken 4x4, they all get stuck, it's very wet and muddy. Dixon was also well able to drive in the conditions. Radio also working, which is needed to find the animals. Dixon had binoculars, but worth bringing your own.Third day, went to ngorongoro, another day driving in the crater, flamingos, rhino, loads to see. Stayed in rhino lodge. Nice accommodation, good food. Then day four, drive back, dropped to airport. A few things we noted.....ngorongoro was great for spotting animals, it's a much smaller area, with a full spread of animals. However, we liked the Serengeti much more, the crater feels a bit like a wildlife park, where the Serengeti had a feeling like you are definitely in the wild. Recommend you buy a sim card when you land. 10 gig sim cost us 15 euro, very handy in the tent and in the jeep. Be aware, you are away from the camp all day, no toilets. Not a big problem for men, but maybe not as comfortable for women, so might be worth considering as you drink the provided water! If you can, bring lots of single dollar notes. It's a big tipping culture, so a dollar for porters etc. The local currency is a bit cumbersome for tipping. Be aware, the max you can withdraw from the atm is about 200 dollars, so factor this into your plans, if you plan on paying cash for safari. They brought us to the bank before we left, which sorted that problem for us. Credit card not too popular in Africa yet. No atm in the wildlife parks, so bring what you need with you to tip at the camps etc. Overall, no hesitation recommending shrike, they were very fair in their dealings with us. Trip of a lifetime.

Great experience! - Arranged a 3 day tour of Serengeti and Ngorongoro with shrike safaris. All messages were answered quickly and the booking process and online payment system were straightforward. They picked us up from hotel to start safari and dropped us at airport after safari without any issue. We had an overall great experience on the safari with Shrike. Emilee was a great guide and had a fantastic knowledge of the animals and the Serengeti. Lodges and food were nice. Saw the Big 5 and more. Ngorongoro crater was absolutely beautiful! Fantastic experience and memories that we'll always cherish.

40th Anniversary Safari Trip - The entire safari was great - the time in the Seregeti, in Olduvai Gorge, and Ngorongoro Crater. It really is a good plan to start at the Mwanza side of the Serengeti and end in Arusha. Emilie our driver/guide was delightful - friendly, knowledgable, a superb driver, and knew all the best places to view wildlife. We saw everything we wanted to see (except the elusive leopards) - 4 of the big 5 and so much more. There was plenty of time to watch the wildlife and take photos and videos. The accomodations at the Safari Camp were really nice- with beautiful views from the chalet. We were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and are so glad we decided to do this safari with Shrike.

Wonderful experience viewing animals, particularly in the western corridor - We made it a 5-day/4 night safari, with Shrike flexibly adding an extra day to see Mayara National Park. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them, as they met us at the airport in Mwanza. We had the luxury of a Land Cruiser to ourselves. Our driver, Paul, was always friendly and was a relaxed and careful driver - we always felt safe and never rushed. He had a good knowledge of the animals and was also good identifying the birds. The best part of the safari was the second day in the western corridor, where we never went more than a few minutes without seeing animals or birds. Paul seemed to know all the byways and we had a wonderful 40 minutes watching from close quarters a mother cheetah and her cub devour a young impala that they had just caught. The central and eastern ends of the Serengeti were drier and the animals more sparse. It included a large distance on dusty and corrugated roads. Ngorongoro was great, although rather crowded with safari vehicles (compared to the very quiet western corridor). Our night at the Ngorongoro Wildlife Hotel was the best of the four nights on the trip. Manyara was well worth the visit for the birds, but being the dry season the flamingos were no more than a pink smudge out on the lake. We covered a large distance each day, but the Land Cruiser was comfortable and we didn't suffer. Overall it was a great experience. Mark at the Shrike office was always helpful and patient as our plans for the safari evolved.

Recent Safari - Our driver (Herman) was extremely informed. He gave a lot of information about the animals and birds. He was great in spotting animals from a distance and approached them professionally and carefully. Our loges were clean and comfortable. Ngorongoro was very cold and we were not prepared for that kind of a weather. But the hotel/lodge were very attentive and made sure we were comfortable. I loved the fact that I woke up to birds singing outside my window and animals walking around

DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. CANCELLED 8 HOURS BEFORE PICK UP - My mother and I were celebrating my 30th and 60th birthdays. We flew from NYC to go in a safari with Shrike. I wrote them many emails stating this is a big trip for us. I asked about decorations, a cake etc. THEY CANCELLED ON US 8 HOURS BEFORE THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO PICK US UP. We flew all the way from NYC to Arusha. Spent 2 days in arusha and then found out our safari for the next 3 days was cancelled. The "owner" mark kept losing signal on his phone when he was explaining this to us (after I very aggressively said I needed to speak with someone) and said its because the other 2 people on the safari cancelled. So he said he can refund me my money or my mom and I pay an extra $1050 each for a private safari. I immediately called my bank and told them about this. Also, please notice the inconsistent reviews for this company. With some research i found out they haven't paid taxes or been a credited tour company since like 2016 or something. THEY WERE REPORTED TO TATO (the tanzania tourism board) ABOUT THE UNPROFESSIONALISM THEY GAVE MY MOTHER AND I. We literally found out through a WhatsApp text our tour was going to be cancelled 8 hours before they were suppose to pick us up. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT SCHEDULE AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE IN AFRICA WITH THIS BULLSH*T COMPANY.
