Mount Kilimanjaro - Day 1: Moshi - Upon arrival, guests check into a charming family-owned hotel to unwind and prepare for the climb. The welcoming atmosphere ensures a comfortable stay.
Day 2 - Moshi - Meet Your Guides and Begin Orientation | 3,000-ft/914-m
Mount Kilimanjaro - Day 2: Moshi - Spend two nights in Moshi preparing and getting acquainted with the guides. A comprehensive climb orientation and gear check are provided.
Day 3 ~ Machame Camp 10,600-ft/2,972-m • 7.2 miles/11 km • 6-7 hours
Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, a drive to the Machame gate is followed by signing into the national park. Once the guide completes the paperwork, the climb begins. The trail narrows and ascends through the tropical rainforest to Machame Camp.

The camp crew will have everything set up upon arrival, allowing guests to settle in and appreciate the natural surroundings.
Day 4 ~ Shira Plateau 12,480-ft/3,804-m • 3.1 miles/5 km • 7-8 hours
Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, the journey continues, leaving the rainforest behind. On clear days, Kibo Peak is visible from 20 miles/12 km away. Passing through heather fields, the mountainside gradually opens up. The altitude effects become noticeable, so the pace is slow.

After reaching 9,000 ft., the first lobelia, protea, and giant Senecio appear, leading to Shira in 7-8 hours.
Day 5 ~ Barranco 12,950-ft/3,950-m • 6.2 miles/10 km • 7-8 hours
Mount Kilimanjaro - The hike continues uphill past the Lava Tower, then descends through giant Senecios towards Barranco, near Kibo’s stunning south-facing glaciers. The views of the towering peaks are breathtaking.

After descending through heather and lobelias, Barranco Camp is reached.
Day 6 ~ Karanga 13,200-ft/4,033-m • 3.6 miles/5.8 km • 4-5 hours
Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, the ascent of the Barranco Wall begins. This day is particularly spectacular, with excellent hikes through valleys.

Kibo Peak is visible over the left shoulder, while Mawenzi stands prominently to the right.
Day 7 ~ Barafu Camp 14,950-ft/4,556-m • 2.1 miles/3.4 km • 4 hours
Mount Kilimanjaro - The air becomes thinner, making breathing more challenging. The uphill climb to the rocky slopes of the camp is tough but rewarding. “Barafu” means “ice” in Swahili, and the temperature is extremely cold at this altitude.

Excitement fills the air as climbers anticipate the challenging day ahead. Clouds drift in and out, revealing Mawenzi’s eroded peak rising from the plains.
Day 8 ~ Barafu to Summit to Millennium
Mount Kilimanjaro - Day 8 ~ Barafu to Summit: 19,340-ft/5,895-m • 2.75 miles/4.5 km • 7-9 hours.

The climb begins a few hours before sunrise, allowing for daylight ascent on the steepest and most demanding section, reaching the Crater rim after lunch.
Mount Kilimanjaro - Day 8 ~ Summit to Millennium - Millennium: 12,590-ft/3,837-m • 6.3 miles/10.1 km • 5-6 hours.

Mawenzi Peak is a thrilling sight, with the Kibo saddle still in darkness below, and the crater’s ice-walls looming ahead. The journey continues to Uhuru Peak (1-2 hrs), the highest point (19,340 ft.). The descent is invigorating, leading back to Barafu Camp for a rest, then down to Millennium camp for the final night.
Day 9 ~ Millennium/Moshi Mweka Gate: 5,500-ft/1,676-m • 7.5 miles/12 km • 6 hours ~ Drive Moshi
Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, a 2-hour hike to Mweka camp is followed by a 4-hour trek through the rainforest to the gate, where a final lunch and celebration with guides and porters take place.

From the gate, guests drive back to the hotel with their guides for a well-deserved shower.
Day 10 ~ Wildlife Safari or Fly Home
Mount Kilimanjaro - Depart Tanzania, or embark on a safari through some of the world’s most spectacular wildlife reserves.
