The Machame route, also known as “the Whiskey Route,” is the second most popular choice among climbers. This path provides a diverse range of views, landscapes, and experiences. The starting point, Machame Gate, is just a 20-minute drive from Aishi Machame Hotel. Situated on the southern slope of Mt Kilimanjaro, Machame Gate guides adventurers to the peak of Kilimanjaro via an exhilarating trail that begins in the tropical forest, traverses all climate zones, and culminates in the Arctic desert at the summit.
Camps along the journey are strategically positioned to ensure a smooth and gradual acclimatization process. On the third day, the Machame Route merges with the Lemosho and Umbwe routes at Barranco Camp.
Climbers can opt for either a six or seven-day trek, with the latter being highly recommended for optimal acclimatization.
