Kilimanjaro National Park - Marangu Gate - Mandara Hut
Following a briefing on Kilimanjaro Trekking by our Professional Mountain Guide, meet the team. Then, travel to Marangu Gate (1,860 m). After quickly obtaining climbing permits and registering with the search and rescue service, the group will begin the trek to Mandara Hut (2,700 m). The route passes through the rainforest, where tropical showers are likely, so it’s advisable to bring extra clothes and raincoats.
Upon arrival at the camp, our mountain support team will handle all necessities, set up the tents, and prepare lunch.
Throughout the Marangu route, accommodations are in special huts, providing a comfortable alternative for those who prefer not to camp in tents.
Mandara Hut - Horombo Hut
Mount Kilimanjaro - After breakfast, the group will leave Mandara Hut early in the morning to embark on a moderate trek to the second high-altitude camp: Horombo Hut (3,720 m). Upon reaching the camp, you will enjoy views of two volcanic cones: Kibo and Mawenzi.
A few hours after lunch, there will be time for an acclimatization hike towards Kibo Hut, with a 200-meter altitude gain.
Horombo Hut - Kibo Hut
Mount Kilimanjaro - Immediately after breakfast, the group will trek to Kibo Hut (4,700 m). The trek itself is not overly challenging; maintaining a steady pace is crucial to conserve energy for the ascent to Kilimanjaro’s summit. Upon arrival at the camp, lunch will be served. It is recommended to rest as much as possible, avoid strenuous activities, and stay hydrated.
Uhuru Peak and Descent - Horombo Hut
Mount Kilimanjaro - Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee before departing Kibo Hut (4,700 m) at night to begin the trek to Kilimanjaro’s summit: Uhuru Peak (5,895 m). The trek is moderately challenging physically, but the altitude poses a significant challenge. Each pair of climbers will be accompanied by a guide who will monitor their stamina and mental resilience.
After successfully reaching Uhuru Peak, you may choose to descend to the nearest glacier. Then, return to Kibo Camp and, after a two-hour rest, continue descending to Horombo Hut (3,720 m).
Descend from Horombo Hut - Marangu Gate
Mount Kilimanjaro - Savor a warm breakfast in the morning, then proceed to the exit Gate: Marangu Gate (1,860 m). After descending, the crew will gather to celebrate with African Dance, and you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts on the journey in the guestbook. Finally, you will receive commemorative certificates and be transferred back to the hotel.
You can relax at the hotel the following day and arrange for airport transfer if needed.
