FASCINATING AND FEASIBLE - The park is very large, the activity is well carried out and takes place inside the classic 4 × 4 prepared for a complete overview, it feels like being in an open-air cinema, the tour lasts about five hours and then ends in lunch at 1:00 pm.. The sight of the felines is fascinating, practically 5 m away you have lions that touch you.. The park is worth it even if it cannot compete with that of the Serengeti

Amazing trip! - Everything was perfect with Watu Safaris. We were staying at Mbuyuni Farm Retreat near Morogoro, which is a bit off the beaten path, but Benson was there at 5:30 am sharp for the two-hour drive to Mikumi. The park was amazing with many animals. We were able to catch a glimpse of four lions.

Day trip Mikumi NatPark with Silas - This was our third trip with Silas. This time, he brought pancakes, boiled eggs and thermos flasks with him, picking us up at 6 in the morning. He drove straight to the hippo pool, where you are allowed to get out the vehicle in the fenced area. The Jeep had a nifty draw-out table. It was wonderful to have breakfast with the hippos! We could not eat it all, so around 11 we stopped near a family of elephant and had coffee in the vehicle and ate the rest of the pancakes. We saw an amazing number of animals, especially giraffes and elephants very close by. We saw a fresh kill and tracks of a lioness with 2 cubs. But she decided to hide. The vultures getting the fresh kill after a while was also very spectacular! Silas is super. He understands when to stop and just enjoy looking, stops for pictures in just the right places, points out good pictures, knows everything about animals - he went to a special wildlife college and is genuinely loving being in the park showing ‘his’ animals to day-trippers. It is a pleasure to be out in Mikumi with him! Definitely going game-driving again with Silas next time we are in the area.

Day trip to Mikumi National Park - Mikumi National Park was wonderful. The tour guide was fantastic. Our driver was punctual and kind. The journey is described as 3 hours each way, it is actually 6 hours each way, this was due to traffic. The journey was comfortable, however, it would have been better to have this information to plan appropriately.

Day Trip to Mikumi from Dar - The day trip was amazing. Our driver, Benson, was absolutely great. He was hard working and passionate about his job. He picked us up at 3:00am from the Holiday Inn in Dar es Salaam, drove us to Mikumi, did 2 game drives, and then drove back to Dar es Salaam where he dropped us back off at our hotel. Just to tide you a heads up that this trip is a very intense drive and is not for the faint of heart. There is nothing that Benson could have done differently. Morogoro road is very busy with traffic — no matter what time or day. Our driver overtook truck after truck to ensure that we had the most time possible in the park, but the drive is intense. We arrived back in Dar es Salaam around 9pm. While the drive out takes about 3.5 hours, the return drive is close to 6.5 hours. Props to Benson for staying awake, keeping us safe, and providing and amazing experience. I would 100% recommend if you have a free day in Dar, just know what you are signing up for!

Small safari - a taste of African wildlife - This is a distance from Dar es Salaam, so if travelling from the city be prepared for a longer day. The Safari is small, but there was a variety of animals and they were seen up close. Lunch was really good! This was a good trip and the closest to me, but it was pricey for what it was. I have been to the Serengeti on a previous trip which is much bigger national park if you have the time to travel that far.

Very long drive which is worth - The only negative thing was the long way from DAR to Mikumi. All the rest was perfect. Our driver was very friendly and explained us a lot about Tanzania, their culture and for sure, the animals. We have seen a lot of them during our two game drives. We can definitly recommend that trip. Just be aware of the fact that one way can take up to 6.5 hours.

Horrible experience! - Our one day safari started fine as agreed. On the way to Mikumi one of the tyres broke. With bad equipment the tyre replacement took an hour. The morning drive was fine, our guide Richard was good. He told us info about the animals we saw. At lunchtime the driver and another guy drove to Mikumi village to get another spare tyre. That took quite a long time so we had to wait again... Afternoon drive was fun and even if it didn’t last long it was ok. We started the journey back to Morogoro after 4 pm. An hour later yet another tyre broke completely! This time the guys didn’t try to change it but said that there would be a car coming from Morogoro to pick us. Our driver said that it would take 45 minutes. Finally after waiting for the car for 2 hours and 30 minutes the car arrived. The wait was awful it was getting dark eventually, we were tired, hungry and thisty. Guys did not have any extra water for us. The refreshments included to the tour were just three small bottles of water and that plus our own waters were gone already. We were back in our hotel at 8:30. So... our evening plans were ruined. Next day I tried to negotiate some compensation for the waiting etc. with Majenda. All he would do was to give us 30 $ reduction of the 370 $ tour. Altogether the tour would have been just fine if the company’s vehicles were in decent condition and safe.
