Additional Information

The Lemosho Route is a fantastic choice for a seven-day Kilimanjaro climb. This route provides ample opportunities to adjust to the altitude and offers a stunning panoramic view of the mountain as it crosses it from west to east. The western entry point necessitates a slightly longer drive, but it’s entirely worthwhile thanks to the chance of passing…

Great experience with TransKibo - 7 day Lemosho - In summary: A excellent 5/5 experience with extra credit. The way I was prepared and supported there was no doubt I would reach the summit. But I did not expect to have such a great experience getting there and back down. Check out the video on my YouTube Channel Flip Is Curious. - How to find TransKibo? The main office of TransKibo is situated in the YMCA complex in Moshi, on Kilimanjaro rd, close to Taifa and Kibo. To get in contact it is probably easiest to send a text or WhatsApp to their contact number. My main contact was Abraham who has been fantastic, even helped me find my new favorite place to stay in Moshi.
 - Preparation
"Can I go tomorrow"? Once we were in agreement of the general conditions (route, team, price, food) we sat down and prepared the trip. I did not have much time and needed to get going the next day, so in 3 hours, the night before the start, we went over: - paperwork (liabilities, recording the valuables I left in the office, signing the agreement, payment, recording the rented items)
 - meeting Silvano, my guide
- going over my equipment and filling in the gaps together
- picking out the equipment, which which they were very generous and not picky about the costs. Silvano and the others made sure that there was no way any part of equipment may be missing to reach the peak.
 - Team Silvano and Abraham (who heads the tour operator with his brother) put together a team of 1 Chef and 3 Porters, who were insanely fast and friendly. Speed helps, because after you leave, they have to pack up quickly run up the hill, so that the lunch is getting prepared, then pack up again and later the tent and dinner is ready. How they pulled it off, I still don’t know. I can fully recommend every single one of them, their names:

And above all, I highly recommend Silvano. He is extremely knowledgeable on the mountain, which meant that I was never too cold nor warm, and we managed to avoid any traffic on the mountain, either by leaving before or after other groups. I would highly recommend choosing a knowledgeable guide like Silvano. - Flexibility short-term I was quite surprised how well Silvano and TransKibo were able to get us ready for Lemosho for the next morning. It was very well coordinated and I felt ready to go. - Nutrition I cannot eat gluten, so we specified what that meant exactly to be sure and we went over my favorite ingredients and meals. This was one of my biggest concerns beforehand, but with TransKibo and their Chef this was solved phenomenally. I had a good mix of familiar meals and simple (however great tasting) local cuisine, sometimes I even felt it was more effort than necessary, but it did mean that I was full after the meals, which was perfect. - My personal needs and desires
A big plus was that Silvano was able to listen to me and thus we went quicker than most group. I finished the 7 day Lemosho in 5 days, because I wanted a bit of a challenge and Silvano and the team did everything they could to make it possible for me to ascend quicker and descend in one day.
 - Support
I felt very well supported and treated with great respect and friendship.
 - Tips
The topic on tips is sensitive because it’s where the team gets most of their money, but I felt it was best to speak with Silvano transparently on the last part of the trip what I had intended and all he wanted to say was that he is supportive and thankful of whatever he and the team receive from me and did not want to give any expectation. I forgot how much I gave, but I am sure they have received more and less before, it is what I was able to contribute in good conscience at that time.
Needless to say, I highly recommend Silvano and TransKibo. Now I will edit the corresponding video, when it's available you will find it looking for "Flip Is Curious".
