The ascent continues to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, offering breathtaking views at every turn. Capture the moment with a photo at the summit to share with friends and family. Descend from here, pausing for lunch and a rest at Kibo before proceeding to the Horombo encampment.

At lower elevations, conditions may be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles are recommended. Shorts and t-shirts are likely sufficient (keep rain gear and warmer clothing accessible).

The journey to the trailhead takes approximately 3 hours from Moshi, passing through numerous villages and coffee plantations, with a stop at Marangu to register climbing permits.
Additionally, the Rongai Route is accessible from Amboseli National Park in Kenya. Allow for 2 hours, including the border crossing. Copies of passports are required in advance.
