Great fun ! - Wonderful day! The boat was comfortable and the islands were beautiful to visit.
We went to Stromboli and Panerea. The tour guide was very interesting and informative.

Fun day with lava! - Had a great time on the tour, getting collected from Taormina was convenient and the bus and boat rides were good. Unfortunately on our day the tour was not able to stop on Stromboli however seeing dolphins following the boat and getting to see some lava and fire fountain made up for it. Thanks!

Excellent all around, even when not accessing the lands of Stromboli - Though Stromboli was closed due to safety, this trip was phenomenal and worth the energy it sucks out of you! The start time is reasonable and the road trip to the motorboat was beautiful. The boat ride was a great experience, however I do wish I grabbed food before the boat. The boat does have good food, but I wind up only eating the boat food the whole day (minus a gelato and vino in Panerea). It is a long day, but it was all worth it! The beach is a decent walk, water shoes were my best friend and thongs could easily break due to the amount of walking and rocks. Walking a little extra to the Bay Area of the beach was again worth it, but not easy. Very little shade in all parts as well, I was lucky to have brought my light floaty because the rocks are uncomfortable and hot! The ferry home was a mixture of party vibes & exhaustion but it was great!

Fun time - This was an amazing trip. Thomas our guide was so friendly and amazing and funny. He made the trip so relaxing. Thomas was a little late in the beginning, but the app provides away to communicate with them through WhatsApp. Because they are traveling to many different hotels, it’s understandable why they are not always on time for pick up. Be patient is my first piece of advice. Wear shoes that you don’t care if they get dirty. I advise sneakers. It was a long day so get a good nights sleep the day before. Enjoy!

Nice excursion to do in good weather. - Nice excursion but lots of boat with rough seas, huge
sick. The island of Panarea very charming, beautiful walks in the village with a great view of Stromboli. Despite a long wait at sea no luck, no eruption. The return at night less restless.

Stromboli spews - It was exciting to see Stromboli have mini eruptions after sunset. Learning about the formation of the islands and history is interesting. Our tour guide Alessandra and our drivers Alfio and Angelo were wonderful and professional.
A note to consider the swimming in Stromboli ( black sand beaches and very rocky) come prepared with all items as there are no change areas.
Also consider a snack on board the boat it’s cheaper than in both towns.

Long day, but worth it. - Overall a great day spent and if you are staying in Taormina, seems like the only way to see Panarea and Stromboli on the same day. The pickup was at the bus terminal, however, there are plenty of bus stations around the hotels so contact the operator to see about a more convenient pickup. Bus ride was pleasant. Boat ride was nice, however, it is a very large group and running for the most convenient seat is a thing. We felt like the tour should have started earlier. Would like to have had more time to spend on Panarea and swimming on Stromboli (bring water shoes!). The light show (volcanic eruption) was spectacular, but that, of course, is up to Mother Nature. The captain did a fantastic job maneuvering the boat so that everyone got a great view. Long day, but worth it.

Long day but worth it - After reading many reviews for this trip I was very unsure but am so glad we did it.
We met our bus at 10:00am & were dropped back off at 1:00am
Yes it is very long (bring a book, take a nap) but Panarea was so worth it. It is a beautiful little island that you never knew you needed to see. We spent 4 hours there which despite other reviews, it was enough time to have lunch & go to the beach (bring your bathing suits-we did not because of the other reviews) After that we headed to Stromboli which we could not go on because it was too dangerous that day. This was disappointing but obviously understandable. We did not see it erupt. On the way back the highway was shut down so we had to drive through the town of Messina so it took longer. Again be prepared. Pack water & snacks if you need it. The boat does have a selection of food & beverages at a decent price.
The only negative (besides not being able to go on Stromboli) was that the tour guide could have communicated what was happening a little better. For example we were not told we would not be docking & getting off the boat in Stromboli or that we should order food on the boat now as they were going to close.

Beautiful islands but the tour is a struggle - 5/5 for the islands, 2/5 for the tour package
The islands are perfect. Panarea is beautiful, with panoramic views out to the sea and various islands. Stromboli is stunning. But the tour itself is just LONG.
We were picked up at about 10am (slightly late), our bus didn’t have air conditioning so we had to stop and wait for another, but still made the boat which leaves at around 12:30 anyway. You get to Panarea for 2pm ish, where the guide tells you there is a walk and a beach, then leaves you to your own devices for 4 and a half hours.. the only bits the guide talks about are some rocks on the side and a brief bit of history, there is no guidance as such - but if you don’t mind trekking through an island in 35+ degrees to a little beach then this is your tour. As I said earlier, the island itself is beautiful.
Around 7pm you then take the boat across to other islands, including Stromboli (we didn’t get to go on, which apparently sometimes you do but I don’t know when they usually fit that in). The other islands are just normal rocks, which seem to get the most attention from the guides - but Stromboli is striking. The active volcano is a wonder to behold as you sail around it completely, it is one of the best things I have ever done. The setting sun also adds that little extra to the day. You then blitz back across the water to the port, getting in around 10:30pm, to take the bus back to Taormina. The motorway was shut for us so we didn’t get back until 1am… luckily our air bnb host was extremely nice so it didn’t affect our check in.
If you can do the trip yourself privately then definitely do it - otherwise it is still worth it for the views but buckle in!
