Additional Information

Explore the volcanic islands of Panarea and Stromboli in the UNESCO-listed Aeolian Archipelago, on a day trip from Taormina. After traveling by motorboat to each island (please note that there will be other groups on board of the motorboat), enjoy free time to swim in their crystalline waters or amble around their villages. Cruise around Stromboli to see the island’s volcano at its bombastic best. A crater called Sciara del Fuoco is easily visible from the water, so look out for its frequent jet-like eruptions lighting up the night sky! A penalty will be incurred in case of a no-show. The motorboat is equipped with bar and toilets. It is absolutely forbidden to consume takeaway food and/or drinks on board. Toilets are not accessible near the ports and therefore their use is permitted exclusively during navigation. Smoking is prohibited inside and outside our motor ships (there is an exception at the stern, in the embarkation and disembarkation area, authorized by our on-board staff).

Fun time - This was an amazing trip. Thomas our guide was so friendly and amazing and funny. He made the trip so relaxing. Thomas was a little late in the beginning, but the app provides away to communicate with them through WhatsApp. Because they are traveling to many different hotels, it’s understandable why they are not always on time for pick up. Be patient is my first piece of advice. Wear shoes that you don’t care if they get dirty. I advise sneakers. It was a long day so get a good nights sleep the day before. Enjoy!

Do this tour! - Seeing Stromboli at night.was superb.Well organized.Reasonable price. I would recommend an extra 15 minutes there in after sunset (I do realize this will slightly delay return time but visitors will not mind).

Great Trip at Sea - This is a long day trip between 12-14hrs but well worth it even though we couldn't see the eruptions. We hadn't thought of going on this tour till we had had an excellant tour with this company who are excellent. We was picked up by coach near to our hotel and then taken to Millazzo where we joined the boat that first took us to Panarea. You get off at Panarea small village with narrow streets and with few coffee bars and restaurants/cafes ample time is given to wander and explore and get a brew. Then it's back on the boat to Stromboli where again you disembark and again given time to wander round have a drink and some food. Its is very similar to Panarea nice narrow streets and well maintained, more shops and cafes/restaurants on Stromboli. You can sometimes as you was wandering hear the eruptions from the other side of the island. You then rebound the boat as the sun starts to set and set of round to the the side of the island to hopefully see the eruptions the trip takes you round Strombolicchio and its sea horse head rock before finally getting the first view of the active side. Unfortunately for us there was low cloud cover so our view of the eruptions was null but you could still hear the eruptions. The low cloud gave an eerie aspect to the island and some good photos as the sun set. Then its back to port and coach home. If you like the sea and travelling by boat this is a great trip with great views we heard people complain it hadn't been worth it because they had seen the eruptions but thats the awesomeness and unpredictability of nature. Not everyday you get to walk on an island with an erupting active Volcano.

A brilliant day out. - This was an excellent trip in excellent weather. Both islands are well worth a visit. Panarea is more beautiful but Stromboli more spectacular. Bar Carola on Panarea was very good for lunch. Catering less exciting on Stromboli at least on our assessment. The boat was busy so an on deck seat is not guaranteed. The SAT guide was fine but not always necessary. The website suggests this trip starts at 1030 in October and lasts 10 hours. It didn’t! It really started at 1100 and finished at 2130. If you are driving to Milazzo, it’s well worth booking parking. Garage Mylae is handy and they do really good service.

Read reviews and itinerary = a fantastic day! - There is not enough room to write how good this experience was. Just do it- but- read numerous reviews and itinerary description first, then you'll have a great day. Those who have a negative experience must not have fully understood as all info needed is provided by both the tour Co and previous guests. We would not have seen any of this on our own. We enjoyed the views of the countryside from the bus ride, the breeze and views from the boat ride and, the spectacular show the volcano put on at night. Alessandra was our guide- she was very friendly and spoke several languages fluently. The boat captain is a master in his field- he took us within inches of a cave/rock formation and ensured all could see each thing regardless of your seat/side on the boat. The black sand beach was cool to see too as we are used to snow white powder sand in Florida. There is not alot to do at the islands but walk a lil, grab a bite and maybe a souvenir- they are both small, the island hosts were very welcoming too. The Mediterranean Sea boat ride and Volcano were my favorites and were a once in life experience.

Long day but worth it - After reading many reviews for this trip I was very unsure but am so glad we did it. We met our bus at 10:00am & were dropped back off at 1:00am Yes it is very long (bring a book, take a nap) but Panarea was so worth it. It is a beautiful little island that you never knew you needed to see. We spent 4 hours there which despite other reviews, it was enough time to have lunch & go to the beach (bring your bathing suits-we did not because of the other reviews) After that we headed to Stromboli which we could not go on because it was too dangerous that day. This was disappointing but obviously understandable. We did not see it erupt. On the way back the highway was shut down so we had to drive through the town of Messina so it took longer. Again be prepared. Pack water & snacks if you need it. The boat does have a selection of food & beverages at a decent price. The only negative (besides not being able to go on Stromboli) was that the tour guide could have communicated what was happening a little better. For example we were not told we would not be docking & getting off the boat in Stromboli or that we should order food on the boat now as they were going to close.

Nice but boat too full! - Nice day trip of more than 13.5 hours. Spectacular eruptions from Stromboli. It's a pity that the boat is very large! There is almost a fight to get on board first for the best places.

Beautiful islands but the tour is a struggle - 5/5 for the islands, 2/5 for the tour package The islands are perfect. Panarea is beautiful, with panoramic views out to the sea and various islands. Stromboli is stunning. But the tour itself is just LONG. We were picked up at about 10am (slightly late), our bus didn’t have air conditioning so we had to stop and wait for another, but still made the boat which leaves at around 12:30 anyway. You get to Panarea for 2pm ish, where the guide tells you there is a walk and a beach, then leaves you to your own devices for 4 and a half hours.. the only bits the guide talks about are some rocks on the side and a brief bit of history, there is no guidance as such - but if you don’t mind trekking through an island in 35+ degrees to a little beach then this is your tour. As I said earlier, the island itself is beautiful. Around 7pm you then take the boat across to other islands, including Stromboli (we didn’t get to go on, which apparently sometimes you do but I don’t know when they usually fit that in). The other islands are just normal rocks, which seem to get the most attention from the guides - but Stromboli is striking. The active volcano is a wonder to behold as you sail around it completely, it is one of the best things I have ever done. The setting sun also adds that little extra to the day. You then blitz back across the water to the port, getting in around 10:30pm, to take the bus back to Taormina. The motorway was shut for us so we didn’t get back until 1am… luckily our air bnb host was extremely nice so it didn’t affect our check in. If you can do the trip yourself privately then definitely do it - otherwise it is still worth it for the views but buckle in!

Interesting day trip - Nice island hop however, it was a very long and tiring day. The double decker bus was very comfortable and the driver was very good. The tour guide was excellent, speaking in 4 fluent languages. The boat however was not so good. Safety on the upper deck of the boat was a concern. People were able to sit on the open deck which had amazing views but as soon as the boat sped up, everyone got soaked with no warning. There were people slipping over, trying to get to shelter in the lower decks, as the boat was swaying from side to side. I would definitely recommend sitting in the sheltered areas. There are toilets on board as well as hot and cold drinks and panini, which were very nice. The islands have amazing rock formations and definitely worth a visit. Overall it was an interesting day.
